CORROBAN 40

PRODUCT DATA Corrosion Inhibitor for Closed Water Circulating Systems

Description and Use

CORROBAN 40 is a nitrite-borate based corrosion inhibitor containing an additional organic


inhibitor to protect steel, copper and other non-ferrous metals. As such CORROBAN 40 is
an ideal treatment for closed chilled water and low pressure heating systems.

CORROBAN 40 is not intended for use in systems containing Aluminium.

Dosing

CORROBAN 40 should be dosed at 5000 - 10000 ml/m3 in order to give an active reserve of
1200 - 2000 ppm of sodium nitrite.

CORROBAN 40 is supplied in 25 and 200 litre polythene drums.

Normal Use Cooling water, closed circuit systems - corrosion inhibitor and antifoulant.

Fire/Explosion Risks Slight - contains oxidising agent.

Health Hazards

Toxic if swallowed.
Toxic to aquatic organisms and may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.

First Aid

Skin Exposure: Drench affected area with water, remove contaminated clothing, wash with soap and
water. If irritation develops, seek medical advice.

Eye Exposure: Irrigate with copious amounts of water or saline eye wash solution for at least 10 minutes.
Obtain medical attention.

Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water give plenty of water to drink. DO NOT induce vomiting.
Obtain medical attention immediately.

Storage
Keep container tightly closed and in a cool place.
Keep away from combustible material.
Keep away from cyanides and readily oxidisable materials.

Handling
Avoid contact with skin or eyes.
Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye protection.

Spillage
Flush spillage with plenty of water and wash to waste.

Disposal
Wash out empty container thoroughly with water before disposal.
