Singapore:

Intro:
Singapore is a sunny, tropical island in South-east Asia, off
the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. The city-state is
710 square kilometres and inhabited by five million people
from four major communities.
Singapore is a very modern city; culturally diverse, futuristic
yet historic, green, clean

Past:
Background:
The island city-state on the southern tip of the Malay
Peninsula has seen many rulers in its history. It has been an
outpost of the ancient Sumatran Srivijaya empire; it was
part of the Sultanate of Johore in the 15th and 16th
centuries, and it was burned down by Portuguese forces in
1617. At the beginning of the 19th century, Singapore
became a trade post and settlement of the British East India
Company and a British crown colony some years later.
Singapore became independent as the Republic of
Singapore on 9 August 1965, with Lee Kuan Yew and Yusof
bin Ishak as the first prime minister and president
respectively.
Present:
Singapore is today (beside Monaco) the most densely
populated independent country in the world. Its strategic
location at the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea,
combined with a mostly corruption-free government led to
a thriving free-market economy that attracts international
investment
Singapore is famous for being a global financial center,
having a world-class city airport with a waterfall, and a
Botanic Garden that is a World Heritage Site.
A lot of people want to live in Singapore because of
its political stability, low crime rates, and excellent
healthcare, education, housing, recreation and transport
options.

Futur:
As its economy lags and its people age, Singapore plans
to upgrade its digital workforce and prepare for climate
change. Singapore rose to be one of the world's most
advanced cities by using its position as a trading hub to
attract technology and investment.
