This compact microprocessor based blood collection monitor provides smooth and gentle
rocking action for the uniform mixing of blood with the anticoagulant without damaging the blood
cells and the platelets, while the blood is being collected from the donor.

Pre selection of blood volume to be collected. Tarring of bag volume before collection.
Tarring range0–999 g. Automatic Storage and recall of set volume. Measure volume
LCD & LED indication and audible alarm at the end of collection.
Display of blood flow rate of collection along with audio and visual alarm indication in
Continuous gentle agitation of blood bags during collection i.e. Tray oscillation 12 – 14
RPM.
More than 24 hrs. of internal battery back up to use in blood donation camp in case of
power failure.
Removable cradle.
7 Avoid any air flow either from fan or window for better accuracy of blood collection.
8 Even though unit has a power saver facility to save battery it must be switched off if not

1. Place the blood collection monitor on a perfectly horizontal surface. Avoid keeping it on
tilted surface or under the air flow (of either fan or Air conditioner) as it may cause
erroneous results.
2. Connect the 3-pin top of charging adapter to the 230 V AC mains with proper earth
connection. (The 3-pin socket on the wall must have ‘PHASE’ at the bottom right,
‘NEUTRAL’ at the bottom left and ‘EARTH’ at the top center.)
3. Switch ‘ON’ the unit. REMI logo will display for a moment followed by model name.
6. Place the bag meant for the blood collection on the tray provided on the monitor such
that the tube from the bag comes out in the front. Pass this tube properly through the
pinch mechanism so as not to create a pulling tension on the bag. Do not start the
collection before placing the bag on the tray. Also ensure that the bags do not touch the
sides of the unit’s body as this may cause it to display wrong readings.
7. As soon as the blood starts flowing through the tube of the blood bag, press
‘START/STOP’ key to start the collection. The microprocessor inside the unit
automatically senses the tare weight & will display ‘TARRING IN PROGRESS. (i.e.
weight of the empty blood bag with the anticoagulant) after TARE, machine will ask to
vein puncture & PRESS START. After pressing start display will show actual volume
being collected & actual time of collection. The center LED will blink indicating the start
of process.
8. During the collection, the flow rate is monitored. The normal blood flow rate is preset
between a minimum of 20 ml/min. to a maximum of 180 ml/min. If the blood flow rate
goes below or above these preset values, an alarm of ‘LOW FLOW RATE / HIGH
FLOW RATE’ will appear along with a beep. This alarm will disappear as soon as the
blood flow rate returns back to normal. (This alarm can also occur if the bag is lifted
from the tray when the collection process is ON.) Average flow rate during entire period
of blood collection will be displayed.
9. During the collection, Actual volume (ml.) and Actual Weight (gms) of blood collected
will be displayed.
10. If one wants to temporarily halt the blood collection, press ‘PAUSE’ key once. This will
activate pinching clamp there by blocking the blood flowing to the bag. It will be
indicated by a ‘PAUSE’ on display. The actual blood collected till this time will be shown
on the display. The preset volume (ml.) can be modified, if required, during this pause
period. To start the blood collection process again, just press the ‘PAUSE’ key once
6
again. This will release the pinching clamp and the PAUSE message will disappear.
Page
The actual volume (ml.) will also start to increment from where it had stopped.
11. As soon as the ACTUAL–ml. of blood collected reaches the PRESET-ml. value, the
tube will be pinched and will end the collection indicated by five beeps. The pinch on
the tube will only be released either when the bag on the tray is lifted, or, the ‘RESET’
key is pressed. This will cause the pinch indicator to disappear and the ACTUAL-ml. will
display 000 again.
12. The time taken for the collection of the blood from start to finish, excluding the pause
time can be seen on Display.
13. The collection of blood can abruptly be stopped by pressing the ‘START/STOP’ key.
This will cause the tube to be pinched at any point with the pinch indicator glowing.
14. Battery Status is also shown on Display. Once the battery gets fully charged it will
automatically switch over to trickle charging thereby increasing battery life and keeping
it safe.
15. In case of power failure, the collection process will automatically switch over to the
internal battery so as to work the unit on the battery backup mode. This switch over is
so fast that that it will have no effect on the collection process.
16. Once the battery reaches a preset level of discharge, an audio-visual alarm of low
battery state will appear, while the LOW BATTERY indicator will blink intermittently.
This state indicates that the unit has reached a level where if the collection process is
ON, it should be completed and then the unit should be put up for charging before next
collection. If at all the facility of mains charging is not available, the unit should be
switched OFF manually through the rocker switch to save the charge in the battery.
(Another 2 or 3 blood collections can easily be achieved during this low battery state,
provide the unit is switched OFF to save the charge.)
17. Once the battery reaches a preset level of the deep discharge state, the internal
electronics will automatically switch OFF the unit. During this state, the low battery
symbol will appear on LCD and once this state is reached, the unit will not allow the
further process unless battery is charged once again.
18. The internal battery should be charged for at least 10 to 12 hours for optimum use. If
this is not done, then battery may not deliver the required performance. It should also
be noted that the life of the battery reduces with time and use. Hence as time passes
by, the battery will lose its power and may need replacement for strong and better
performance. To replace the old battery, when the rocker switch has been put OFF,
open the unit from below and replace with new after opening the clamp screws. Care
must be taken while replacing the battery or else the fuse may get blown. The RED (+)
and BLACK (-) wire terminals must be properly connected to the respective terminals of
the battery.
7
19. For changing Buzzer volume, press start key during power up. Increase volume by

pressing Up-down key. After adjusting it, press start to resume normal process.
Dust settled on the rocking mechanism can cause it to tighten and thereby affect the unit
performance. A drop of oil, once in 3 months on the moving joints would be recommended.
