Canticle of the Three Young Men

Benedicite Dominum, or the Canticle of the Three Young Men is

taken from the Old Testament book of Daniel (Dan. 3, 57-88; 56). It
is used at Lauds for Sundays and feast days.

BENEDICITE, omnia opera BLESS the Lord, all ye works

Domini, Domino; laudate et of the Lord, praise and exalt
superexaltate eum in saecula. Him above all forever.

BENEDICITE, caeli, Domino, BLESS the Lord all ye heavens;

benedicite, angeli Domini, bless the Lord all ye angels of
Domino. the Lord.

BENEDICITE, aquae omnes, BLESS the Lord all ye waters

quae super caelos sunt, that are above the heavens; let
Domino, benedicat omnes all powers bless the Lord.
virtutes Domino.

BENEDICITE, sol et luna, BLESS the Lord, ye sun and

Domino, benedicite, stellae moon; stars of heaven, bless
caeli, Domino. the Lord.

BENEDICITE, omnis imber et BLESS the Lord, every shower

ros, Domino, benedicite, and dew. All ye winds, bless

BENEDICITE, ignis et aestus, BLESS the Lord, ye fire and

Domino, benedicite, frigus et heat; cold and chill, bless ye

Domino, benedicite, gelu et hoar frosts; frost and cold,

BENEDICITE, glacies et nives, BLESS the Lord, ice and snow;

Domino, benedicite, noctes et nights and days, bless the
dies, Domino. Lord.

BENEDICITE, lux et tenebrae, BLESS the Lord, light and

Domino, benedicite, fulgura et darkness; lightning and
nubes, Domino. clouds, bless the Lord.

BENEDICAT terra Dominum: LET the earth bless the Lord;

laudet et superexaltet eum in let it praise and exalt Him
saecula. above all forever.

BENEDICITE, montes et colles, BLESS the Lord, ye mountains

Domino, benedicite, universa and hills; everything growing
germinantia in terra, Domino. from the earth, bless the Lord.

BENEDICITE, maria et BLESS the Lord, seas and

flumina, Domino, benedicite, rivers; fountains, bless the
fontes, Domino. Lord.

BENEDICITE, cete, et omnia, BLESS the Lord, ye whales and

quae moventur in aquis, all that move in the waters; all
Domino, benedicite, omnes you fowls of the air, bless the
volucres caeli, Domino. Lord.

BENEDICITE, omnes bestiae et BLESS the Lord, all ye beasts

pecora, Domino, benedicite, and cattle; sons of men, bless
filii hominum, Domino. the Lord.

BENEDICITE, Israel, Domino, BLESS the Lord, Israel,; praise

laudate et superexaltate eum and exalt Him above all for

BENEDICITE, sacerdotes BLESS the Lord, priests of the

Domini, Domino, benedicite, Lord, servants of the Lord,
servi Domini, Domino. bless the Lord.

BENEDICITE, spiritus et BLESS the Lord, spirits and

animae iustorum, Domino, souls of the just; holy men of
benedicite, sancti et humiles humble heart, bless the Lord.
corde, Domino.

BENEDICITE, Anania, Azaria, BLESS the Lord, Ananias,

Misael, Domino, laudate et Azaria, and Misael; praise and
superexaltate eum in saecula. exalt Him above all for ever.

BENEDICAMUS Patrem et LET us bless the Father and

Filium cum Sancto Spiritu; the Son, with the Holy Spirit;
laudemus et superexaltemus let us praise and exalt Him
eum in saecula. above all for ever.

BENEDICTUS es in firmamento BLESSED art Thou, Lord, in

caeli et laudabilis et gloriosus the firmament of heaven; and
in saecula. worthy of praise, and glorious
Amen.
