Experiment Name: Study of Mutual Impedance in Conductively Coupled Circuits
Submitted to:
Theory:
In the circuit shown in Fig. l, the impedance Z12 or Z21 common to loop I and
loop 2 is called mutual impedance. It may consist of a pure resistance, a pure
inductance, a pure capacitance, or a combination of any of these elements.
Mesh analysis, nodal analysis or Kirchhoff’s laws can be used to solve these
types of circuits.

.
Now for set π set of networks shown in Fig. 2, the mutual impedance can be
defined as
Fig. 2
Where V2 is the voltage developed across RI, (terminals 22') and V a is the voltage
drop across Ra. The same result would have been obtained had the set of
resistors (Ra— Rb — Rc) been transformed to an equivalent Y set of resistors.
Necessary Equipment:
o Step down transformer 24-0-24 x 1
o AC Ammeter x 1
o AC voltmeter x 1
o Rheostat : 600 Ω x 4
Circuit Diagram:
Procedure:
o Also measured the resistance of the Rheostats using ohm meter and put
these value in data table .
