This document discusses methods for analyzing voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and reflection coefficient on a Smith chart. It provides steps to plot an impedance point and draw a VSWR circle to determine the VSWR value from where the circle intersects the real axis. Alternatively, the same radius can be used on a nomograph scale to find the VSWR. The magnitude of the reflection coefficient can also be found using the same radius on a reference coefficient scale. The document then continues to discuss finding voltage maxima and minima on the Smith chart.

Step 1: Plot normalized impedance and mark this point as A.
Step 2: Using a compass, draw a circle with OA as radius and O as centre of the circle, this is VSWR circle. Step 3: The point at which the SWR circle intersects the real Ƭ axis on the right hand side of the smith chart’s centre, represents the value of SWR or VSWR. In this case, VSWR = 13. OR From nomograph (scale given at bottom of smith chart), as SWR line is shown on the left hand side. Same radius value OA can be marked here from centre towards left-hand side.
Magnitude of reflection coefficient is obtained with same OA
