COMMUNICATIONS ARCHITECTURE SUMMARY

Off-shore Control and Safety Network

The control network on the KCDP-A Platform shall be built on high speed Ethernet/IP. This
will link the ICSS, the 3rd party packages, the CCTV systems and the telephony systems
aboard the production and processing platform.

The ICSS on KCDP-B platform in future, can be linked to the ICSS on KCDP-A using fibre-optic
cabling via the umbilical cord between the two platforms.

All the data from the different systems are aggregated by a multiplexer device array, for
onward secure transmission to the on-shore monitoring facilities by a communication link.

Primary Communication Link

A secure VSAT satellite system shall be the primary link between the KCDPA offshore
platform and the on-shore monitoring facilities in Onne, Rivers State and Lagos.
The VSAT with a minimum operational bandwidth of 2MBps (can be increased on demand)
will be able to transmit process data and telephony data without latency.
The operational bandwidth will however need to be increased to accommodate
transmission CCTV images to the monitoring facilities at Onne. The size of this improved
bandwidth is subject to detailed feasibility studies.

Secondary Communication Link

Option 1: A secure VSAT satellite system, equal in specification to the primary

communication link to provide communication link redundancy.

Option 2: A point-to-point radio link to connect the KCDP-A platform with the monitoring
facility in Onne (subject to site survey and feasibility studies).

On-shore Network Architecture

Primary Communications Link

The on-shore monitoring facilities (Lagos & Onne) shall be linked with the offshore KCDP-A
platform and themselves via the VSAT satellite system.
The VSAT link will transmit process control data to the OWS systems from the offshore ICSS,
Voice data (VoIP) among all the facilities, and CCTV (to Onne).

Secondary Communication Link

The proposed back-up link for communication between the on-shore facilities at Onne and
Lagos is a GSM/LTE link (subject to site survey and feasibility studies), piped through a
secure VPN, to protect the transmitted data of public GSM data networks.
