PROMPT: Write a personalized diary on your daily schedule.

This is worth 10 percent of your grade, so

please attempt.

Monday:

Today, I enjoyed the benefits of being on spring break. I went outside to get some fresh air and jogged in
my backyard. I also had the pleasure of playing basketball and soccer. In the afternoon, I completed
some assignments and watched several hilarious YouTube videos. My day culminated with the taste of
mouthwatering boba ice cream.

Tuesday:

Today, I participated in various activities. In the morning, I exercised with my little brother and played
basketball with him in a nail-biting one-on-one, which I won. In the afternoon, I enjoyed some vanilla ice
cream and attended my last class on number theory. There, the class reviewed every topic we learned,
from prime factorization to modular math. Finally, I ended my day by completing some homework
assignments.

Thursday:

Today, I learned about three main points about evolution by natural selection. The first rule is that a
population evolves, not an individual. Secondly, natural selection affects only those traits that are
heritable and that differ among individuals in a population. Lastly, natural selection depends on the
specific environment factors at a given time. These are the facts I must memorize for biology.

Friday:

Today, I learned about the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, an equation that determines if evolution is
occurring. It is p+q=1 and p^2+2pq+q^2=1. The first equation shows that the percent of a phenotypic
group (p) in a population and the percent of the other phenotypic group (q) sum to 1. The second
equation includes the dominant allele (p^2), the heterozygous allele (2pq), and the recessive allele
(q^2). The Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium only works if: Random mating occurs, there is no natural
selection, there is no genetic drift, there is genetic flow, and there are no mutations; otherwise,
evolution happens.

Saturday:

Today, I attended a composition class at the Los Angeles City College. I reminded my instructor that I
enjoyed his creative writing class two years ago. After the class, I went with my dad to buy dinner. We
also purchased milk tea boba together! Finally, I ended my day with my family, delightfully playing
basketball.

Sunday:

Today, I attended geometry class. There, I learned about polygons and how to analyze and solve difficult
problems regarding them. I also enjoyed watching the National Basketball Association. The playoffs are
starting, and I am very excited for it. My favorite team is the Golden State Warriors, and I hope they win
the championship.
Monday:

Today, we went back to school from spring break. I had mixed feelings. On one hand, I felt very
melancholic and missed vacation. On the other hand, I enjoyed meeting up with my friends again and
playing sports together with them.

Tuesday:

Today, I had P.E. class. During that period, I played frisbee golf with my classmates, where we each toss
a frisbee, and whoever’s goes in first, wins. After school, I finished my homework. I also finished some
math and writing assignments. Finally, I finished the day watching the Phoenix Suns against the Los
Angeles Clippers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Wednesday:

Today, I had a half-day at school. I came home at noon, instead of 3:00 PM. I started reading two of my
newly purchased books, The Count of Monte Cristo and Julius Caesar. They are each very fascinating! I
concluded my day with again, the NBA Playoffs, which were nail-biting!

Thursday:

Today, I played basketball at school with my friends. I have not been playing much sports because I was
recovering from a lip injury. I scored over 20 points and led my team to a win. I ended my day by
watching YouTube videos.

Friday:

Today, we had a faculty in-service day. I studied biology and wrote essays. I also completed my book
report on Fahrenheit 451. In addition, I enjoyed vanilla ice cream. Finally, I watched a movie.
