1 | TREE BARK FINAL DRAFT CONCEPT

PATTERN | TEXTURE | STRENGTH

I spend a lot of time in nature and have visited

many bushland, forest and mountain areas around
the world. I always feel drawn to nature and I find
trees in particular to be fascinating. Their shapes,
colours, textures, smells, sounds, their calm, and
their strength revive and centre me no matter the
circumstance.
AI EXPLORING
For this exploration I have chosen to focus on the
bark with its varying patterns and surfaces: hard and DRAFT ITERATIONS
soft, curved and straight, raised and indented. There
are no matching trees, nor is there one area of
bark that matches the next, as they each grow and
mould over time with layers expanding and peeling
away.

PRECEDENTS INITIAL SKETCHES

The curves and texture of this

faux bark wall are very realistic,
the continual lines that run
down the length of the wall are
beautiful and something I will
try to adapt.

This surface interests me be-

cause the grooves and patterns
mimic the tree bark in a subtle
and interesting way. Rather
than sticking out, the grooves
move inwards as if imprinted

This rough surface is very

lifelike and shows the unique
grooves and patterns which
form in bark., as well as being
made strong.
