Activity/Task Title: What’s New “Sinigang”

Directions: Read and understand the story “Sinigang” on What’s New by Marie Aubrey J.
Villaceran pages 56-62, then, identify the six (6) elements below from the short story.

Setting: The main Setting of the story was in the kitchen at Liza’s house.

Characters: Liza, Meg (Liza’s younger sister), Mother and Father of Liza, Tita Loleng, Sylvia
(Liza’s father concubine), Lem (Sylvia’s son).

Plot: The story shows how Liza dealt with her problems regarding her father's second family.
The story begins with the preparation of the condiments to be used in cooking Sinigang,
while She and her aunt Loleng were cooking Sinigang her aunt asked what happened
when he visited the funeral of her half brother Lem and how was they meet his mother
Sylvia. All the memories came back to her mind, the pains caused by her knowing that her
father had a child with someone else, but her love for her father still prevailed despite her
marriages and shortcomings his first family.

Conflict: The conflict was liza’s father having a child with another woman. This is Man Vs.
Man because of the problem between Liza and her dad

Theme: I think the story mainly all about forgiveness and acceptance. The story taught us
that no matter how huge or big the mistake that person do towards you, we need to
forgive them and accept the fact, though it is not easy to forgive that person but as they
always said, there will be always a room for improvement, you just need a time.

Point of View: First Person Point of View.
