Parantac clinch silver medal, 9.

Daniel Parantac seized its silver medal in the men’s taijiquan event after narrowly

edging out Myanmar’s Chan Ko Ko Nyein at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South

Korea on September 23, 2014.

Parantac is a 23-year-old wushu athlete from Baguio, Philippines joined again to

improve on his 14th place performance in both taijiquan and taijijian at the 2010 Asian

Games and to put the Philippines on the medal board for the first time at the 2014 Asian

Games.

He performed a series of slow, relaxed, and graceful movements with difficult

holds, jumps, jump kicks, and graceful landings, he also showcased his balance and

control, key elements in taijiquan resulting him to bag the silver medal.

China’s Zhouli Chen took the gold medal with a score of 9.78, just 0.1 points

ahead of Parantac’s 9.68.

Parantac also competed in the mean’s taijijian event, finishing in 8th place.
He is a gold medalist for the Taijiquan and Taijijian All-Around events at the 2013

Southeast Asian Games, the recipient of the Athlete of the Year award at the 2013

Kafagway Sports Achievers Awards and he also won the bronze medal for taijiquan at

the 2013 World Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Parantac’s silver medal was a major achievement for the Philippines, bringing the

country its first medal at the 2014 Asian Games, it highlighted his talent and dedication

to the sport of wushu which inspired other Filipino athletes to strive for excellence on the

international stage.
Team Philippines triumph in 6th ASEAN Schools Games, 3 golds and 1 silver

Team Philippines brought home the bacon as they won 3 gold medals and 1

silver in the wushu competition at the 6th ASEAN Schools Games on Thursday,

December 4, 2014 at Marikina City, Philippines.

Agatha Chrystenzen Wong dominated the women’s group A Taijiquan and

Taijijian all-round with a score of 17.83, sweeping its competitors from Vietnam and

Brunei.

Alieson Ken Omengan secured a top score of 17.86 in the men’s group A

Nanguan and Nangun all-round, outsmarting athletes from Vietnam and Brunei while

Joel Casem clinched gold medal in the men’s group B Chang Quan and Long Weapon

all-round by a narrow margin of 0.03 points, edging out competitors from Indonesia and

Malaysia.

Dave Degala failed to grab the gold in the men’s group A Chang Quan and Long

Weapon all-round with a score of 17.69, securing it silver medal behind an Indonesian

athlete.
The win marked a successful debut for wushu as a sport introduced by the

Philippines in the 6th ASEAN Schools Games that was held by coaches Liu Yu Zhen

and Bobby Co.

Team Philippines’ impressive performance showcased the country’s strong

wushu talent and potential, the victory served as a source of inspiration and pride for

Filipino athletes and fans.
