When the parking brake control is in the ENGAGED position and the system is uncharged, oil from piston pump (9) enters main control valve (1)
through the P1 port. Oil flows through the main control valve through screen (1v), orifice (1u), and check valve (1t) to diverter valve (1k). Oil also
flows through check valve (1bb) to accumulator (15) and solenoid valve (1aa) .

Solenoid valve (1aa) is de-energized and the solenoid valve blocks oil flow to parking brake (18). The solenoid valve also directs oil from the
parking brake to the tank and the parking brake is engaged by spring force.

Diverter valve (1k) allows oil to flow into the load sensing line and the resulting load sensing pressure is transmitted through shuttle valves (1cc)
and (1gg) to the piston pump. This increases the output of the piston pump and oil flows though the main control valve into accumulator (15) until
the accumulator is fully charged. Load sensing pressure also acts on diverter valve (1o) and the diverter valve blocks oil flow into the hoist system.

When the accumulator is charged, the increased system pressure moves diverter valve (1k) which blocks the oil flow into the load sensing system.
This reduces the output of the piston pump and the pressure is maintained in the accumulator by check valve (1bb). The diverter valve directs oil in
the load sensing system to the tank and any excess pressure is relieved by relief valve (1l) .

When the parking brake is engaged, pressure switch (24) detects low pressure in the parking brake system. The pressure switch sends a signal to
the ECM and the parking brake indicator in the cab is illuminated.

When the parking brake control is moved to the DISENGAGED position, solenoid valve (1aa) is energized. Oil is forced through the solenoid valve
and screen (1dd) by the stored energy within accumulator (15). Oil flows from the PB port of main control valve (1) to parking brake (18). The
resulting force overcomes the force of the internal spring within the parking brake and the parking brake is disengaged.

The fully charged parking brake accumulator (4) can disengage parking brake (3) three times before the stored energy in the parking brake
accumulator is exhausted.

If there is a failure of the oil supply from piston pump (10), check valve (1bb) in main control valve (1) seats. The check valve maintains the
pressure in the line to parking brake accumulator (4) .

Oil pressure in the line to the parking brake moves the contacts of pressure switch (2). This turns off the indicator in the cab.

When the braking system is fully charged, oil flow from piston pump (9) enters main control valve (1) at the P1 port. Oil flows through the main
control valve, through screen (1v), orifice (1u) and check valve (1t) to shuttle valve (1s) and diverter valve (1k). The Diverter valve blocks the oil
flow and the shuttle valve divides the flow between the two sections of brake control valve (14) .

Oil from the FB port flows to service brake control valve (14) and accumulator (17). The oil flow is blocked at the service brake control valve. This is
the oil supply for service brakes (13) for the front axle.

Oil from the RB port flows to service brake control valve (14) and accumulator (16). The oil flow is blocked at the service brake control valve. This is
the oil supply for service brakes (11) for the center axle and service brakes (10) for the rear axle (if equipped).

During the charging process, the valve spool within diverter valve (1k) is moved by an internal spring by the decreased system pressure. Oil flow
from piston pump (9) is directed through the valve spool and into the load sensing line. Oil in the load sensing line flows through shuttle valve (1cc)
and shuttle valve (1gg) and out of the LS1 port to piston pump (9). Pressure in the load sensing system is also transmitted to diverter valve (1o)
and the diverter valve blocks oil flow into the hoist system. The load sensing pressure causes the output of the piston pump to increase until the
requirements of the braking system are satisfied. Any excess system pressure is relieved by relief valve (1l) .

When the requirements of the braking system are satisfied, oil pressure acts on the end of the valve spool within diverter valve (1k). This moves
the valve spool against the internal spring, which blocks the oil flow into the load sensing system. Pressure in the load sensing system is relieved to
the tank through the diverter valve which causes the output of the piston pump to decrease. Diverter valve (1o) also opens and this allows oil to
flow into the hoist system.

Pressure switch (25) is exposed to pressure within the braking system. If the pressure drops below the required magnitude, the switch triggers a
category 3 warning by the monitoring system via the ECM.

When the pedal for service brake control valve (14) is pressed, oil flows to service brakes (13) on the front axle, service brakes (11) on the center
axle and service brakes (10) on the rear axle (if equipped).

There are two spools inside service brake control valve (14) which are offset when the pedal is pressed. Spool (14a) controls the oil supply to the
front service brakes and spool (14b) controls the oil supply to the center and the rear service brakes. When the pedal for the service brake is
pressed, pressure is transmitted from accumulator (17) to the front service brakes through spool (14a). At the same time, pressure from
accumulator (16) is transmitted through spool (14b) to the center and the rear service brakes (if equipped).

The oil pressure in the brake lines is transmitted to the underside of spools (14a) and (14b) through internal passages. As the pressure increases
spool (14a) and spool (14b) move up. This acts to balance the force that is applied to the brake pedal. The balanced position of spool (14a) and
spool (14b) block the oil flow from the accumulator and the brake line. The brake line from the service brake control valve to the service brakes is
also blocked and a constant oil pressure exists in the brake lines until either the force on the brake pedal is increased or reduced.

The front and center brake groups are activated simultaneously. There is no delay in the engagement of the front axle brakes and the center axle
brakes.

When the brake pedal is released, the springs in the service brake control valve (14) move spool (14a) and spool (14b) upward and the lines to the
service brake are connected to the return line to the hydraulic tank. The oil pressure in the brake lines is relieved and the brake pads within the
service brakes retract from the brake discs.

A normally open pressure switch (21) closes when there is pressurized oil in the line to the service brakes for the front axle. When pressure switch
(21) is closed, a signal is sent to the ECM which changes the downshift points of the transmission. The downshift points revert to the normal values
when the service brakes are disengaged.

Pressure switch (22) for the stop lights is a normally open switch. Pressure switch (22) closes when there is pressurized oil in the line to the service
brakes for the front axle. The stop lights illuminate when pressure switch (22) is closed.
