Let us start this module by refreshing our


memories on constructing a triangle.

What are the steps in constructing a RECTANGLE?


Step 1:
Draw a line segment m.

Step 2:
Put two points A and B to make a segment AB on line
segment m.

Step 3:
Construct two perpendicular segments. Using a compass,
mark two arcs on the line A and another two arcs on line
B.

Step 4:
Mark off congruent sides and label the vertices as points
C and D.

Step 5:
Connect point C and D to form ABCD.

Constructing a regular pentagon

Brilliant idea, so our topic for today is all about


constructing a regular pentagon.

4. Discussion (20 minutes)


What you have done in your activity has a
connection to our topic for today which is about
Construct a regular pentagon.

The regular pentagon is the regular polygon with


five sides.
If all the sides are equal and all the angles are of
equal measure, then it is a regular pentagon.
Otherwise, it is irregular. In the regular pentagon,
each interior angle measures 108°, and each
exterior angle measures 72°.

Pentagon:

1. A straight edge is a ruler with no markings on it.


2. A compass is a geometric tool used to draw
circles and parts of circles are called arcs.

Now we are going to watch a video related on how


to construct a regular pentagon.

4. Activity (5 minutes)
“To further enhance your knowledge, let’s do some
more examples.”

Example 1.
Construct a regular pentagon CHAMP in which CH =
8 cm.

Before we proceed to our next activity, can you
sight any experience of yours on how regular

have another activity. I’m going to divide you into
four groups. Please count 1 to 4 starting from you.

stays on that side, and other group stays on that
side. Transfer silently class and don’t disarrange the
chairs.

Direction: A motorcyclist was on a highway and


noticed a U-turn sign with a regular pentagon
shape. Your task is to construct a regular pentagon-
shaped U-turn sign SITAW in which SI = 7 cm.
