GENERAL GUIDELINES SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS – CLASS 10
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS ● Show your working with proper steps, direct answer will not be considered in section B to section E ● Use the rough column for the rough working (calculations & figures) at the right side of the page only. ● All word problems should be solved with proper statements. Also write your final answer with proper statement. ● Use correct and clear mathematical formula ● Highlight the question no., correct and final answer at the end. ● Mention correct option in MCQs. Not to leave any questions attempted. NUMBER SYSTEM: REAL NUMBERS ● Explain all the answers briefly with the proper steps and theorem used. COORDINATE GEOMETRY ● Mention Formula -Section formula/midpoint/ distance formula. Check conditions for collinear points/quadrilaterals / equidistance etc. ALGEBRA: POLYNOMIALS, LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLE AND QUADRATIC EQUATIONS, A.P ● In case of factorization question you have to factorize completely or as asked in the question. ● Formula and Line Conditions: It is essential to mention the relevant formula and any conditions regarding the lines involved in the problem. ● Verification: Verify the solution wherever the question asks for it. GRAPH: LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLES ● Use pencil only while doing the graph questions ● The width of the markings on both the axis should be uniform. (i.e. scale) Show the origin (i.e. O) Show X and Y for both the respective axis. Mention the scale clearly on the top of the graph. ● Write the answer No. on the graph paper also.Label both the axis properly. Draw graphs neatly and mention coordinates and equations properly. GEOMETRY: TRIANGLES / CIRCLE ● Mention the theorem used in your answer. ● THEOREM should be written step by step – Statement- Given – To Prove – Construction – Proof ● Solving for geometry questions - Statement- Given – To Prove – Construction (if any) – Proof MENSURATION Draw Rough Diagram/Description: Write a short description of the figure/Use Formula: Use the formula for the mensuration figure/Check Units: Ensure all measurements are in the same units (convert if necessary)./Solve: Substitute values into the formula and calculate the volume. Use the value of π (pi) as 3.14 or as given. Write Answer with Unit: Present the final answer with the correct unit. PROBABILITY / STATISTICS ● Sample events of the events should be mentioned along with the cases required. ● Simply the final answer in Probability and write formula only once while solving questions. ● Use correct formula and method for finding mean /median /mode. Use empirical formula if required. TRIGONOMETRY - Revise all trigonometric identify / values for some specific angles. Draw rough diagram for height and distance. Read statement twice before drawing rough diagram. All the best children!! Mathematics department – DPS Jankipuram
