TERM.END / SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATION


AY 2023 -2024 TERM I

Amrita AHEAD Examinations were conducted using a secure browser with


Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Proctoring. A proctored examination runs on a

webcam-integrated desktop or laptop computer, and a proctor will monitor the student
using the live video feed. The online examination must be taken using a secure browser
installed on the computer system. Tablets and Mobile devices are strictly forbidden.
Students are hereby instructed to follow the instructions and guidelines in the respective

sections to attend the term-en#supplementary examinations.

I. General Instructions:
l. Students are fully responsible for the technical equipment and setup they need for
an online examination with the system requirements below.

2. Exams can be taken on devices such as laptops/desktops. Charge the laptop well
in advance to last for at least 3 hours.
3. Students should install the specified secure browser on their computer systems
to take the examination.

o If your computer screen is shared before starting Secure Browser,


it will not allow you to launch the exam until you remove the cable
used to share screens.

o If you attach the cable to share screens while attempting the exam,
your exam will be teminated and treated as malpractice.
4. Technical issues related to a basic functioning hardware/software setup are not
the University' s responsibility.

5. Any software used in the online examination must be purchased and installed
through legal means.
6. In case of network/power failure disconnection during the examination, the timer
will be paused. The examination can be resumed within 20 minutes from the
intemrption, and the timer resumes from the paused time. So No Time will be
lost to the student. If the time is beyond 2A minutes, please inform the batch
advisor/coordinator or the Department Exam help desk.
7. For a smooth attempt atthe online examination, students are instructed to:
a) Sit in a closed room with enough light for the Camera to detect
himselflherself. Make sure that you sit, facing the light during the
examination. Do not sit against or near the window.

b) Ensure that there is no noise around you during the examination.
Otherwise, AI Proctor will detect and capture the same as deviation.

c) Position the device so the front camera capfures your face correctly and
you can sit to take up the examination conveniently without moving the
device.

d) Do not turrr off your system camera and mic during the exam session.

e) Do not use shortcut keys to perform system functions while taking the
examination on the secure browser.

. If your device uses a Wi-Fi router, sit near the Wi-Fi router or
modem to avoid signal-related issues.

o If you use a mobile phone's hotspot, do not share it with any other
device while writing the examination.
g) Disable automatic system updates, security patches, updates of the anti-
virus definitions and application updates during the exam to avoid any
interference while taking the exam, as they may lead to heavy downloads

during the exam and automatic system restart will hamper your exam
progress.

i) If you have issues with the permiued/whitelisted applications in the exam,


contact the respective course faculty.
j) Take the mock exam a few hours before the scheduled exam time to avoid

any technical issues at the reporting time of the term-end examination.

II. Registration Process:

1. Students can log in to the exam platform 20 minutes before the corlmencement

of the examination to complete the registration process.

2. During registration, Students are instructed to enter their AHEAD Email Address,
Full Name with Initials (Appears as First Name on the Exam Platform Screen),
and EffolmentiRoll Number.

3. Students must capture their Photo and the front page of the AHEAD ID Card to
complete the registration.
4. Once registration is done, the proctor will authorise the student by veriSing the
captured photo and ID card, and the student can start the exam at the scheduled

time.

5. The proctor can also request the student to resubmit the above details if the
capfured images are not clear or incorrect.

6. Students must have their AHEAD ID Card and Aadhaar (Indian Student)/
PassportA.lational ID (Foreign Student). Proctor/Observer can ask for verification
at any time during the examination.

7 . The countdown timer in the top right corner of the screen will display the
remaining time available for you to complete the examination.

8. Entry to the examination will be closed 20 minutes after the scheduled time.

9. There will be an exam end time which will be a maximum of 30 minutes after the
exam duration. Students who get disconnected and re-join due to issues cannot
take the examination after the exam end time.

III. Examination code of conduct:

1. The system uses Artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and record facial emotions,
eye movements, and all activities without hindering examinations.

2. Taking photos or recording videos and sharing them with others or indulging in
suspicious and objectionable activities during the examination will be

automatically recorded and treated as malpractice.


3. Do not use headphones/earphones, noise cancellation or blue tooth devices during

the examination. If used, it will be considered malpractice.

4. The Online Examination system will issue regular warnings on your device's
screen. The number of warnings issued to each student will be duly recorded in

the online examination system, and this will affect the student's overall credibility
score, which may lead to the cancellation of your examination.

5. Besides auto-proctoring by the online examination system, human proctors


(Invigilators) will continuously monitor the students throughout the examination.
6. The examination will be auto-submitted after the completion of the total
duration of the examination.

7. Students cannot consult others for any information during the examination.
8. Presence of any other person in the room where the student is taking the
examination and movement from one place to another is prohibited during the
examination.

9. Bio break is not permitted during the exam session.


10. If a student indulges in suspicious and objectionable activities as detected and
recorded by the system, he/she will be booked under malpractice and action will
be taken.

IV. Mock Exam:


Students are instructed to take the general mock exam before the term-
end/supplementary examination commences.

1. A general mock exam containing all possible question types with permiued/
whitelisted Microsoft Word application is available in the Examination
Platform section of the LMS Exam Bulletin to ensure that the term-end/
supplementary examination is taken without any technical issues.
2. Course-specific mock exams will be available before the scheduled exam
date to check the working of permitted/whitelisted applications in the secure

browser. In case of issues related to the application being whitelisted, students


can check with the course faculty.
3. Mock exams can be taken multiple times, but the login credentials should not

be the sirme as those used already. Dummy login credentials can be used to

take the mock exams repeatedly.

4. Students can contact the help desk for technical issues while attempting the

mock exams.

V. Ahead Exam Bulletin:
Students are responsible for noting the exam timetable. They must
regularly check for any revisions or changes made in the examination process and
timetable published from time to time by visiting the respective sections of the
LMS Exam Bulletin.
Students are instructed to follow all the instructions and regularly check

for updates regarding the examinations available in the below-given sections of


the LMS Exam Bulletin.
