WATER DESALINATION 2016/2017

Water is constantly being cycled between the atmosphere, the ocean and
land.
This cycling is a very important process that helps sustain life on Earth. As the
water evaporates, vapors rise and condense into clouds. The clouds move over
the land, and precipitation falls in the form of rain, ice or snow. The water fills
streams and rivers, and eventually flows back into the oceans where
evaporation starts the process anew.

Standard and Regulations Standard and Regulations

Why Standards are Controversial?!
 STANDARD; something set up and established by
authority as a rule for the measure of …quality.
quality
 Standards define an UPPER LIMIT on the
amount of pollution allowed before
 WATER QUALITY STANDARDS:
something must be done to control it.
 A basis for assessing water quality data (economists see this as raising costs)
 A "trigger" for initiating action  Standards define a LOWER LIMIT on the
amount of control required of a pollution
 An "end point" for terminating action source. (environmentalists see this as
preventing further water quality
 A regulatory/ educational tool
improvement)

“Salinity”
Salinity is generally defined as the amount of salt

the level of salts in the water.
It is variously measured in units of electrical
