    1) Over 33 million people in Pakistan have been affected by the worst floods in the country's history. More than 1,500 people have died. 2) The floods have devastated large areas of the country, with four provinces impacted and roads, bridges, and infrastructure left under water. Many crops, such as 45% of the cotton crop, have been totally wiped out. 3) The floods are being caused by heavier than usual monsoon rains as well as melting glaciers in the Himalayas due to rising global temperatures. Rebuilding the damaged infrastructure will cost an estimated $10 billion. Pakistan is calling on rich countries to provide support, as these countries are largely responsible for climate change.
