CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

Mobile phones have become an integral part of our daily lives, and this is especially true

for Senior High School Students. However, the use of mobile phones during class hour has

become a major concern for senior high school students at SLMCSI. Such as, the topic of mobile

phone confiscation for senior high school students in SLMCSI is an important one to explore

which are precisely the impacts that we address in this paper.

Confiscating mobile phone has emerged as a problematic topic in a variety of contexts,

from schools. This study intends to investigate the complex effects of phone confiscation,

offering light on the causes, effects, and moral issues related to this practices that is becoming

more and more common.

Nowadays, teenagers spend more time in fronts of their gadgets than actually doing their

physical activities which affects not only their everyday life, but also their sleeping pattern. That

leads to affect their academic performance.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

The purpose of this study is to inform the students of what are the reason why the frequent

confiscation of mobile phones for senior high school students. This research also helps the

teacher to enforce the policy consistently, and we also aimed to investigate the major impact of

confiscating mobile phones among senior high school students. Moreover, to find out what are

the advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones confiscation to the senior high school

students, teachers, and parents.


STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Researcher made the following questions to get the answer of the SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENTS of why they conducted confiscating mobile phone:

1. What are the reasons for the frequent confiscation of mobile phones among senior high

school students in SLMCSI?

2. What are the perceptions of students towards the school mobile phone confiscation?

3. How does the confiscation of the mobile phones affect the academic performance of the

students?

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study aims to investigate the impact of mobile phone confiscation on factors such as,

academic performance, classrooms behavior, and social interaction. Moreover, this study will use

a surveys and academic records to gather data on students’ experiences and outcomes. This will

no longer include the junior high school and elementary students.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study entitled Exploring Impact of Mobile Phones following;


Senior High School Students: this research can help them to focus on the teacher's lesson.
Teachers: this research can help them to enforce the policy consistently Confiscation for Senior
High School Students of SLMCSI. Be essential benefits of the
Parents: this research may assist them in limiting their child's usage of cell phone at school or
home.
Overall, this research can be served as a model for the implementation of this plan of action
across several schools, whether private or public.
