Lesson idea implementation:

Students would be asked to join a Quizizz and play along and I would make sure that the students
understand that they may not know all the information and that is okay because I haven’t taught it
yet. After the Quizizz I would quickly mark who is where and then we will go into who Jackie
Robinson is and when he lived. I would play a video on who he is and what he did. We would watch
a video on the timeline of his life as well. We would then as a class create a timeline of the events
that happened in his life. I would have the students how he affected the world and if those effects
are still around. I will discuss that baseball is still ethnically diverse and that it is because of the
bravery of Jackie Robinson. I would have students have sheets that have a timeline they have to fill
in. I would walk around and make sure that the students are completing the sheet correctly. We
would then discuss what each time represents. Students then will fill out the Padlet with the
information that they have learned. To finish, I would like the students complete a Microsoft Form
so that I can get a base on what they have learned.

Managing student learning:

This tool will help students be active learners. Students will be encouraged to engage in the lesson
and use the technology to promote learning. The questions the students are asked are expected to
be answered. This activity had the students communicating their knowledge that they have learned.
This will switch the students from passive learners to active learners. I will allow the students what
they are learning about Jackie Robinson. I believe that lets students run their ideas by others to help
them solidify their thinking. This also lets them hear what others have to say about the topic.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

With this lesson plan students can meet the components of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) by
achieving engagement by having a set learning goal and expectations of what is to be achieved.
Students will also be able to accomplish representation because they have something to engage and
show their knowledge. This allows the students to engage in the lesson with the responses and
activities. This allows students to fulfill expression and action by letting them do things in different
ways of learning. Students are showing and expressing their thoughts in many ways. This is a great
lesson for students to accomplish each level of the UDL.

Reflective Practice:

I believe that this lesson will help students build their knowledge in a nontraditional way. This is true
because students are given many options to express their learning. Students have the opportunity to
communicate with one their peers and respond to posts effectively to address the topic. I believe
that Kahoot allows the students to use the knowledge that they have learned. This gives the
students the feel that they are playing a game instead of being tested.
