The science of nano incorporates the design, study, characterization and application of

materials at a scale of 1-100 nanometers, where by working with their properties it is

possible that it can be used in areas and solving problems that we would never have
imagined before. Since its inception in the 80s, until today, the sciences that have taken
advantage of their advances the most are computer science and medicine, since
nanoparticles are structures with dimensions similar to many biological molecules and their
study has developed nanomedicine, this branch allows to diagnose, treat and prevent
diseases and injuries for the benefit of human health. Today, some studies have shown
different methods to fight cancer cells in the body.

From another perspective, nanotechnological advances require joint work, which is why both
governments, companies and research centers must rely on aspects such as research and
financing since this turns out to be a more effective way of progress. This can be evidenced
in the current health situation, which is being a scientific and social challenge. At the
conference on May 13, 2021 organized by the master's degree in Biotechnology and
Nanotechnology of the University Foundation of Health Sciences and the Central University
of Bogotá, they argued that vaccines have presented a constant development over time,
finding in the rise and strengthening of technology is a key ally to increase its efficiency,
effectiveness and ability to induce an immune response in the human body, allowing its use
in vaccines and influencing its viral load. On the other hand, it is evident that the covid-19
pandemic accelerated the application of technologies in order to eradicate the virus from the
creation of vaccines and reduce its transmission, in this sense nanotechnology allowed the
development of vaccines based on molecules that allow carry genetic information that
enriches the responsiveness of the human body's immune system
Since I am interested in nanotechnology, there are many books and articles I can read to
learn more about it. I look for books like "Nanotechnology for Beginners" or
"Nanotechnology: An Introduction" to get started.
Many museums and science centers have exhibits dedicated to nanotechnology. These
exhibits can help me better understand the concepts behind nanotechnology and how it is
used in the real world.
Cancer is one of the main causes of death worldwide and in Colombia 33,000 people die
annually from this disease, this has been reason enough to draw the attention of researchers
from all over the world in recent years. To combat this serious disease and prevent its
growth and spread throughout the tissue, the hyperthermia method has been developed
through nanomedicine, which is based on increasing the cells and their temperature level
through the absorption of energy. transmitted. Biological systems opérate on the nano scale
- a manometer is one millionth of a millimeter. If we are aware of this, it is like we really begin
to understand what the language of cells is, which would serve to work on them and
establish new repair mechanisms in the body. The development of new diagnostic tools has
achieved the acquisition of images of molecular pathways at the subcellular level, so that
early care of pathological conditions is now possible even before symptomatic
manifestations of the disease appear.
According to the above, we should ask ourselves the question: How have nanomaterials
contributed to people´s health in Colombia in the last 10 years?
