To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing to submit a letter of recommendation for Dani Weber for her promotion
application. I have worked with Dani for many years in various capacities, and in all areas she is
dedicated and an extremely valuable member of the SUNY Sullivan team. This letter is in regard
to her continuous efforts to teach, advise, and mentor students, in addition to helping the
college complete the MSCHE Self Study, and get our assessment practices on track.
I have worked with Dani often as she is an instructor for the Hudson Link college in
prison program. Dani teaches Composition 1, Composition 2, or a variety of English literature
classes to the inmates of Sullivan Correctional facility. As the Hudson Link Coordinator, I can
count on her to teach every semester. She is now teaching her 17 th course to inmates.
As Associate Dean of Assessment and Instruction, I was very curious how our first “hi-
flex” course would go that Dani pioneered here. I visited her classroom several times, and she
was inventive, accommodating, and patient in trying out this new instructional modality. It did
not run without trials and tribulations, and Dani persisted to make this new initiative work for
all of her students. I see hi-flex courses continuing and expanding in the future under the
guidance of Dani.
Beginning in January of 2021, I was a part of the Middle States Self Study Steering
Committee. Dani was also on that committee and her knowledge and insight helped carry the
process, and she eventually became the writer/consolidator of the entire report. Upon
conclusion, we found out we were lacking in assessment practices, and Dani is currently vital in
putting that back on track. As the chairperson of the Academic Assessment Committee this
year, and a member of the Liberal Arts department, which is going through a program review, I
think we would be significantly floundering without her. She is a great leader for her liberal arts
faculty and understands the process better than anyone.
One last accolade for Dani is her passion for helping students. She often contacts me for
ideas how to best advise “tricky” students, especially those in the Childhood Education
program. Since we have no full-time faculty in that area, Dani advises quite a few students in
that major. She zoom meets with them regularly, and has a very strong connection with all of
her advisees. Often when I go to look for her in her office, there is a student sitting next to her
getting help for their classes, help with advising, or help with general life questions. Dani goes
beyond the distance as a faculty member.
I highly recommend Dani Weber for a promotion to full Professor. She sincerely
deserves that distinguished title.
Sincerely,

Tammy Porter
