    INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION

    1. This is your practical art project for the term.


    2. Please ensure that you do not arrive in class empty-handed. Bring your art materials of choice.
    3. You will do this project at school during class time in the presence of the Art Teacher. Only in
    extreme circumstances will you be allowed to take it home to work on it.
    4. Please ensure that you work neatly and consistently to the best of your abilities and adhere to all
    time frames given.

    Imagine you are a mythical creature, and you have to hide something, but you have absolutely
    nowhere to hide it!

    For this project you will take on the role of a mythical creature and make your own “mythical box”
    where you can hide all your secrets and important belongings.

    Here are examples of mythical creatures:

    • Mermaid • Unicorn
    • Werewolf • Basilisk
    • Griffin • Phoenix
    • Dragon • Minotaur
    • Loch Ness Monster • Fairy

    1.1 Week of 5 February:

    A) Choose one mythical creature and do research about that creature. Decide
    what your creature wants to hide in his/her box and why.

    B) Bring your research and printed pictures/pictures on a USB to class on the 12 th


    of February. You will present your creature and explain your box to the class. (10)

    1.2 Week of 12 February:

    We will work on the mythical box in class – bring all materials.

    This may be a shoebox, coloured paper, paint, khokis, any other type of

    container, decorating materials etc.

    1.4 Week of 27 February: Continue working in class on the mythical container. (10)
