Logical Fallacy Detection of Philippine National Police Santiago Using

Argument Mining

INTRODUCTION
Logical fallacies are flawed, deceptive, or false arguments that can be proven wrong with
reasoning. Reasoning is central to human intelligence. However, fallacious arguments are
common, and some exacerbate problems such as spreading misinformation. Fallacies, can be
used to deceive, of avoiding the issue, the red herring, and misplacing the burden of proof. In this
work, we will focus on fallacies weak arguments that seem convincing, however, their evidence
does not prove or disprove the argument’s conclusion. Argument mining is the automatic
identification and extraction of the structure of inference and reasoning expressed as arguments
presented in natural language. Using this algorithm to identify is the suspect’s alibi is true or a
fallacy.

OBJECTIVES

 To design and develop a system that can detect fallacy.

 To classify fallacy detected in category.
 To simulate argument mining in fallacy detection.
