Mine Eyes Have Seen

I’m afraid Dan, I’m drowning in these endless thoughts… Everything scares me, the world
outside, the street where Chris’ going and coming home nights moody eyed; I don’t understand.

I am having constant panic attack on what is going to happen to us, I can’t sleep at night in fear
of that someone is going to attack us, that someone is going to burn our house like what
happened before. These thoughts keep bugging me, and I don’t know what to do?

Oh, I miss it, how it was all better in the good old days when we were back home in our little
house with the garden and you and father coming home nights and mother getting supper, and
Chris and I studying lessons in the dining room.

I miss how happy we are before they kick us out in the neighborhood because of the color of our
skin. And by just thinking it I remember all the things that they did to us because of our race,
because of the color of our skin.

We are humans too! we also have emotions! but… but… how could they have treated us like
animals.

I miss it… I miss father and mother… Father who was shot dead, and mother who died from a
heartbreak are gone, long gone.

And now that Chris is being drafted, what will happen to us? Dan, I want him to fight for are
country, and our race but just imagining of all the things that can happen to him I can’t.
