This student would benefit from a Learning Strategy course (GLE/GLS1O1)

This general learning strategies course is for students with an IEP or based on
GLE101 recommendation from the school.
GLS101
When students take the GLE/S in grade 9 it replaces a course on their schedule (i.e., one of the 8
GLS10E credits). Students can take a GLE/S course in place of BTT101 or an Arts course or Health and Phys. Ed.
If the course that is being replaced is a compulsory credit (The Arts or Health and Phys. Ed.), that
course will need to be taken at a later date.

❏ AMU1O2 (Instrumental Music)

If you select this course, do NOT select AMU1O1 (same course); Choose a DIFFERENT
course from The Arts or TIJ1O1 or BTT101.
9th All
Credit Programs Optional - Students MAY choose the following as an EXTRA credit. It runs all year during half
of the lunch period.

Please note that if this 9th credit is in conflict with another course, we will not be able to
offer the course.
All subjects within HDSB are taught in learning environments that promote inclusive education, and identify and eliminate discriminatory biases,
systemic barriers, and power dynamics that limit the ability of students to participate, learn, grow, and succeed. All students see themselves
reflected in the curriculum, their physical surroundings, and the broader environment, so that they are engaged in and empowered by their
learning experiences.

Parent / Guardian Approval

Parent / Guardian approval will be sent electronically via email when the Parent / Guardian Email:
student submits courses through myBlueprint.

Destreamed Courses Destreamed courses equip all students with the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind to be successful in academic or applied courses
(Coded 1W) in grade 10.
The Halton District School Board and the province of Ontario are moving to a de-streamed grade 9 program. De-streamed courses will
replace and combine academic and applied courses. For courses not yet de-streamed the academic course will be offered.

Academic Courses Academic courses focus on the essential concepts of the discipline plus additional related concepts. Academic courses develop
(Coded 1D) students’ knowledge and skills by emphasizing theoretical, abstract applications of the essential concepts while incorporating practical
applications.
Academic courses will be phased out as new de-streamed courses are developed.
These courses are intended to prepare students for the Grade 10 academic (D) subject course, which leads to all grade 11 and 12
courses including college (C), university (U), university / college (M), and workplace preparation (E) courses in Grades 11 and 12.

Locally Developed Courses Locally Developed (Essential) Compulsory credit courses are intended for students whose educational needs are not met by the
(Coded 1L) academic.

These courses prepare students for Grade 10 locally developed (L) subject courses, which leads to workplace (E) preparation courses in
grades 11 and 12.

Open Courses Open courses in Grades 9 and 10 are offered in all subjects other than those offered as Academic or Locally Developed. An open course
(Coded 1O) has a set of expectations that is suitable for all students at a given grade level. These courses are designed to provide
students with a broad educational base.

French Immersion/FI ALP Students who select our French Immersion or have been accepted into our FI ALP program, are required to select the following 4
(Code 4 for FI and Code F for FI courses in the FI or FI ALP program: De-streamed French Science (SNC1W4/F), Geography in French (CGC1D4/F), French (FIF1D1/B),
ALP) Drama (ADA104) or Visual Art (AVI104)
