SECTION 19 – POST MOUNTED DELINEATORS
& RAISED PAVEMENT MARKERS
Post mounted delineators shall be of the circular corner-cube prismatic lens type. Two-way
reflector unit mounted on hot-dip galvanised mild steel post. The top of the post mounted
delineator shall be 1200mm above the ground level. The post shall be driven to 500mm
below ground through pre-augered hole of 300mrn diameter by 300mm deep and concreted
with Grade 10 mass concrete.
On curves the reflector unit placed shall be of silver or white colour on the left side of the
road and shall be of red colour on the right side of the road, in the direction of travel. On
the immediate approaches, in advance and beyond the curves, the reflectors shall be of
silver or white colour on both faces on each side of the road.
Both the reflector units and support shall be subject to the approval S.O. Post mounted
delineators shall be erected plumbed, positioned and orientated in relation to the
carriageway in accordance with Arahan Teknik (Jalan) 2B/85. The locations and spacing of
the delineators shall be as shown in the Drawings or as directed by the S.O. and shall
comply with Arahan Teknik (Jalan) 2D/8S.
Raised pavement markers shall be in accordance with B.S. 873: Part 4, 1987 and shall be
subject to the approval of S.O. Reflector shall be white amber or red for Type I markers and
any combination of the above colour for Type II markers. Raised reflective pavement
markets (Type I and Type II) shall have a toughened impact-resistant, tempered glass body,
or aluminium alloy body which incorporates a fixing stem. Omni-directional raised
pavement makers (Type III) shall be in clear toughened impact-resistant, tempered glass
with 360° visibility and retro-reflective.
Raised pavement markers shall be of the size indicated in the Contract and shall be installed
in pre-drilled holes in the road pavement using materials and procedures recommended by
the manufacturer. Raised pavement markers shall be installed where shown on the
Drawings or as directed by the S.O.
