Booking systems:
Theatre and cinema booking systems: Online booking systems have the ability to
update files immediately thus preventing double booking which could happen if
the system response is slow.
Working of theatre booking system
1. The customer clicks on the performance they wish to see.
2. A date and time is typed in
3. The required number of seats is also entered.
4. The seating display in theatre is shown.
5. The user selects the seats which get highlighted and clicks confirm.
6. The database is checked for the availability of selected seats.
7. If the seats are available the total amount is shown.
8. If customer is fine with the deal they click confirm.
9. The seats are now temporarily set no longer available.
10.Customer enters their personal details
11.The payment method is selected and payment is made.
12.The seats are then finally booked.
13.The final details are shown on screen
14.An email is sent to the customer to get a print to show as proof of purchase.
15.The database finally gets updated with the transaction and the seats become
no longer available.

Adv:
1. They prevent double booking.
2. The customer gets immediate feedback on availability of seats and booking
status.
3. The customer can make bookings in any time of the day.
 4. Through emails special offers can be intimated.
5. Easier to browse seating plans and their price.
6. It is possible to reserve the seat for a period of time which gives period to
think.
7. No need of printed tickets which saves postal costs and also allows impulse
bookings only few hours in advance.
8. Online booking allows the use of smartphone and tablet apps technology.
The customer is sent with the QR code which contains all details of the
booking.

Disadv:
1. The setup and maintenance is expensive
2. We need computer and internet connection.
3. Difficult to cancel bookings and get the money back.
4. If the server is down for maintenance or system breakdown its not possible
to book tickets online.
5. If the websites are not well designed it is difficult to make the right booking
we want or leads to mistakes.
6. Online bookings doesnot allow to build personal relationship with travel
agent who might offer free upgrades or special offers which may not be
available to online bookings.
