Flyers, posters, brochures and newsletters: Using softwares like word


processing and desktop publishing Flyers and posters can be made very easily.
Steps to make Flyers and posters:
1. Open word processor, DTP or presentation application
2. Create frames, boxes and or text boxes
3. Take photos if necessary using cameras
4. Upload images from camera or from cd/dvd, scan photos or download
photos from the internet.
5. Save the photos in a file.
6. Import or copy and paste the photos into the document.
7. Edit the photos and import from a file or type any text required.

Brochures are used to advertise a company. It can be produced on a standard


computer and printed on a glossy paper. It should carry very attractive and
necessary information else it is thrown away. Brochures include flyer, pamphlet or
a leaflet. They can be single sheets folded or multiple sheets stapled. Single sheet
is referred to as flyers or leaflets and multiple sheets referred to as brochures.
Posters are much larger sheets of paper displayed on buildings etc. Posters attract
many people and disadvantage is its cost to display and subject to weather
conditions.
Newsletters contain local information and produced by companies. It contains info
like
1. Marriages, deaths and births of employees, club members or their families.
2. Fundraising successes by employees or club members.
3. Advertising by outside companies.
4. News events such as fundraising etc.

Websites: they are used in advertising. Companies need to develop their own
websites or pay another company to advertise on their website.
Adv:
1. Sound/video/animation can be added.
2. Links to other websites/hyperlinks can be used.
3. Use of hotspots.
4. Buttons to navigate/move around the website leading to more information.
5. Hit counters to see how many people have visited the website.
6. Can be seen by a global audience.
7. Can’t be defaced or thrown away.
8. It is much easier to update a website.

DisAdv:
1. Websites can be hacked into and modified or virus introduced.
2. Risk of potential pharming.
3. It is necessary for customers to have a computer and internet connection.
4. Not as portable as paper based system.
5. Possible for customers to go to undesirable websites.
6. Company needs to maintain the websites once it is set up, which is
expensive.
7. Difficult to target the correct audience as it is a global system.
