This document is a research proposal from Clowie Denise Patun-og, a student at Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School in Zamboanga City, Philippines. The proposal examines using mint and sage extracts as natural ant repellents. It includes an introduction that provides background on ants being common insects that invade homes in search of sweet foods, posing contamination risks. While chemicals are used to control ants, natural alternatives are preferable for safety. The proposal will study mint and sage extracts as potential non-toxic ant repellents.

Background of the Study
Ants are a common type of insect that live together in groups. They are attracted to sweet foods and can be a nuisance when they invade our homes, especially in places like the kitchen where they can contaminate food. While chemicals can be used to get rid of them, they can be harmful, especially around kids and pets. Even when one room is cleaned up, desperate ants still show up in the strangest places to start another Invasion of a home. (Dr. Chaudhari PS, 2013)
