GROUP 4
RESOLUTION
In "Sorry, Wrong Number," the resolution is quite
tragic. Despite Mrs. Stevenson's desperate efforts to
stop the murder, she is ultimately unable to prevent
it. In the end, it is revealed that the murder victim
was Mrs. Stevenson herself.
The phone conversation that she overheard was not a
random plot, but rather a premeditated plan to kill
her, orchestrated by her husband. As the play comes
to a close, Mrs. Stevenson realizes with horror that
she has unknowingly facilitated her murder by
providing the killers with crucial information over
the phone.
The play ends with Mrs. Stevenson's final, desperate
cries for help, which go unanswered as the killers
complete their grisly tasks. The play's dark and
haunting ending has helped make it a classic of the
suspense genre.
