Abstract
Allyl Chloride is a significant raw material utilized within the adhesive industry. It
serves as an intermediate compound in the synthesis of various chemicals, including Allyl
Alcohol and Ketone, among others. Furthermore, it holds considerable importance as a raw
material in the production of synthetic resin drugs, fragrance fixatives, pesticides,
pharmaceuticals, synthetic adhesives, plastics, and lubricants. The primary objective of this
project is to devise a production process for Allyl Chloride using Propylene and Chlorine.
This process aims to yield an annual output of 18,554,880 pounds of Allyl Chloride, with a
mass purity of 28%. The design methodology is based on simulation utilizing the Aspen Plus
V10 software program.
Allyl Chloride is industrially synthesized through the thermal chlorination of
Propylene, employing high temperatures and low pressures. This p rocess results in the
generation of two by-products, namely 1,2-Dichloropropane and 1,3-Dichloropropene. The
manufacturing facility is situated in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, located in Rayong
Province. The process operates for a duration of 8,000 hours annually, with a projected
operational lifetime of 10 years. The investment cost amounts to $14,243,632.92per year, while
the public utility price stands at $416,462.13 per year. The production cost price is estimated
to be $31,607,207.6 per year. The revenue from products, including by-products, is accounted
for as $28,346,674 per year.

CHAPTER 2
PROCESS DEVELOPMENT
2.1 Level 1: Batch vs continuous
1 million
pounds/year [9]
• Allyl chloride
• Allyl chloride เป็ น long product life time (60 months) สามารถผลิตได้ต่อเนื่อง โดยผลิตภัณฑ์
Level 1 Decision: Design this plant as a continuous process.

PROCESS DESCRIPTION
4.1 Process description
Thermal
Feed preparation section, Thermal Chlorination section และ Separation section
4.1.1 Feed preparation section
Reactor
4.1.2 Thermal Chlorination section
Allyl
Stand-by reactor
4.1.3 Separation section
