Learning Goal Evaluation

New knowledge and/or skills gained. (Please summarize what you learned from the CE activities
as they relate to this goal)
I gained knowledge on how to manage profitability in a practice, how to summarize your
financial statements by looking at gross margins and what kind of metrics we can look at to
increase the profit from each customer that comes in the practice . I also learned about different
types of strategies (marketing, customer experience) to gain more customers and have better
customer repeat and retention rate .
Application of new knowledge and/or skills. (Please explain how you will apply your new
learning to your practice)
I found out about metrics such as gross revenue per customer, per staff hour and patient growth
per year that can help to measure the success of the business and can help analyze where to
invest the money to gain more customers. Another metric which can really help a practice is

inventory turn over rate which can help to analyze the future inventory that a practice wants to
keep. The course also helped in learning about financial statements which is a single source of
truth for managing a optical business.

I believe I have a better and concise understanding of how my practice is running at the moment
and how can I make it better with metrics , strategies shared in the course . The course shared
information on how to maximize the profits and minimize the loss by deeply looking through
where the money can be saved using profit and loss statements . Cash flow statements can also
help to analyze the amount of inbound vs outbound money transactions that are happening .
the course also explained about what today’s world satisfied customer is looking for such as
design , retail environment , marketing and product differentiation which can be applied directly
to my practice .
