B0B’S BEACH: BOB’S BIRTHDAY

11. CLIFF ABOVE THE WATERFALL. EXT. DAY.

MS of HURAKAN who is holding his staff skywards. ZULU lies at

his feet.

1. HURAKAN
(boastful)
Didn’t I tell you I could
control the elements?

2. ZULU
(ironic)
Yeah…er…I think you did mention
it. (whimpers).

SFX: HUGE CLAP OF THUNDER: ON ZULU who looks anxiously at the

sky.

3. ZULU (CONT’D)
But I don’t think you should
mess with nature. Dai.

4. HURAKAN
Nonsense. I, Hurakan, am master
of nature. And now for a little
light show.

ANGLE ON HURAKAN as he waves his staff from side to side.

5. HURAKAN (CONT’D)
Malak Kasar Wazzam!

6. ZULU
(whimpers).

SFX: HUGE CLAP OF THUNDER, CRACKS OF LIGHTNING. WIDE ANGLE SHOT

of the sky as huge flashes of lightning appear in all
directions.
 7. HURAKAN (V.O)
Hurakan controls the skies!

STAY ON the SKY as all the flashes of lightning slither together

to form as one. SFX: DEAFENING CRACK OF LIGHTNING.

8. ZULU
(whimpers).

The huge bolt of lightning now forks and speeds out of the sky.
TRACK as it hits the ground inches from a startled HURAKAN. It
leaves a huge crater by his side.

SFX: DEAFENING THUNDER. PULL OUT as the whole cliff face

shudders and shakes violently; boulders start to fall from the
cliffs above. HURAKAN and ZULU scramble for the cover of a cave
opening as boulders bounce all around them.

9. HURAKAN
(startled)
What happened?

10. ZULU
I think Mother Nature is trying
to tell you who’s boss!

CUT TO:

12. WATERFALL. EXT. DAY.

MS of BOB who is stranded on his ledge, desperately running to

and fro dodging the boulder shower. PULL OUT as a huge boulder
hits breaking off part of the ledge and sending BOB flying over
the side and OUT OF SHOT.

11. BOB
(series of yelps and screams).
(strains)
 ANGLE ON THE CLIFF FACE at the side of the waterfall, where BOB
is hanging from a protruding branch. CLOSE IN as BOB looks down
to the rocks and pool below.

12. BOB (CONT`D)

(wearily)
Idyllic island paradise?! Remind
me to speak to my travel agent.

DISSOLVE TO:

13. IRIE BEACH. EXT. DAY.

WIDE ANGLE SHOT of NEL, ACOUMBA (in a coconut shell) ZAZA and
MONTEGO. They are standing together looking ahead of them at
something OUT OF SHOT. CLOSE and ANGLE ON NEL.

13. NEL
Brilliant work guys, he’s gonna
love it.

14. ZAZA
Yeah. Yeah, huh?

15. NEL, ACOUMBA

(affirmative noises).

DISSOLVE TO:

14. WATERFALL. EXT. DAY.

CLOSE SHOT of BOB still hanging from his branch. Beads of sweat
drip from his brow as he struggles to hold on.
16. BOB (O.S)
Oh, no!

PAN UP to see HURAKAN from BOB’S POV, leaning over the ledge
from where BOB fell.

17. HURAKAN
(laughs).

18. BOB
(gasps).

19. HURAKAN
Need a hand?

20. BOB
(ironic)
No, no I’m fine. Just hanging
around. You know how it is.

PULL OUT as HURAKAN holds his staff down for BOB to grab hold
of.

21. BOB
(surprised)
You’d help me? (strains).

22. HURAKAN
(chuckles). Of course.

As BOB goes to grab the staff, HURAKAN pulls it away. BOB only
just manages to regain his grip on the branch but this time only
with one hand.

23. HURAKAN (CONT’D)

For a price! Let’s say I help
you up and you bring me a
certain crab and tortoise.

24. ZULU
(overlapping)
 (menacing noises)

ON BOB who is now only hanging on by three fingers.

25. BOB
Never. They’re my friends.

ON HURAKAN who stands to leave.

26. HURAKAN
In that case you shall perish.

SFX: CREAKING AND LOOSENING RUBBLE. ON HURAKAN as the ledge

around him begins to crumble and come away from the cliff face.
HURAKAN backs away but is too late. The ledge disappears and
HURAKAN falls from the cliff.

27. HURAKAN (CONT’D)

(screams).

TRACK HURAKAN as he falls.

As he passes BOB he grabs for him, pulling him from the branch.

28. BOB
Hey! (screams).

BOB and HURAKAN are now in free fall. TRACK HURAKAN and BOB as
they fall. PULL OUT as LOUBABI and MAGADA ENTER, ONE ROF the
other LOF. ON BOB who grabs a leg of each of them and is lifted
OUT OF SHOT.

29. LOUBABI, MAGADA

(strain).

ANGLE ON HURAKAN, who continues to fall. He misses the rocks but

lands with a loud splash in the pool below. SFX: LARGE SPLASH .
STAY ON THE POOL as HURAKAN surfaces and hits the water with his
fists in anger. The sleep starved fish from earlier surfaces,
spits water in HURAKAN'S face and disappears.
30. HURAKAN
(splutters). (growls). (yelps).

DISSOLVE TO:

15. SKY. EXT. DAY.

WIDE SHOT of BOB still hanging on to LOUBABI and MAGADA’s legs,

as they fly him back to Irie Beach. CLOSE to see BOB is wearing
a blind fold.

31. BOB
Hey guys, what’s going on?

32. LOUBABI
That, Bob, is a secret.

33. MAGADA
A surprise!

CUT TO:

16. IRIE BEACH. EXT. DAY.

MS of BOB, still blindfolded. NEL and LOUBABI are by his side.

34. BOB
(impact noise)

35. NEL
Happy birthday Bob, buddy. And
welcome to New York, tropical
style.

ON LOUBABI who whips of BOB’S blindfold and puts a garland of

flowers round his neck.
36. LOUBABI
Welcome to the big pineapple!
(chuckles).

ON BOB who squints as his eyes see the light again. CLOSE ON BOB
as he suddenly sees the surprise - (we don’t yet). A look of
shock is followed by one of amazement then a huge smile.

37. BOB
(gasps). Hey guys! How? When? Oh
this is too much.

FROM BOB’S POV we see. The Manhattan Skyline made out of sand.
PAN ACROSS to MONTEGO who is standing by a model, made from
shells, driftwood and palm fronds, of the Brooklyn Bridge. PAN
ACROSS to ACOUMBA who is sitting in the drivers seat, (in a
coconut shell of water), of a sandcastle New York taxi.

38. MONTEGO, ACOUMBA

(chuckle).

ON NEL who hands BOB a coconut shell full of orange liquid.

39. NEL
Tropical fruit punch.

ON BOB who wipes a tear from his eye.

40. BOB
(happy sigh).

ANGLE ON ZAZA draped in some material and holding a flaming

torch. She is in the pose of the Statue of Liberty.

41. ZAZA
Hm.

ANGLE ON MAGADA who gives BOB a wicker ball.

42. MAGADA
I made it myself.
 BOB looks a little confused.

43. BOB
Er.. thanks Magada, it’s real
cool.

44. MAGADA
I read about it in the magazine.

45. BOB
Huh?

46. MAGADA
(overlapping)
It’s a …basketball.

BOB smiles and spins the ball on his finger.

47. BOB
Wow. Hey! Whoa. (chuckles). And
it’s the best one I ever had.

Bob throws the ball to Loubabi, who slam-dunks it into a home-made “basket”

48. LOUBABI
(strains). (triumphant noise).

49. BOB
(chuckles).

BOB kisses MAGADA on the cheek. MAGADA colors up.

50. BOB
(kissing noise).
51. MAGADA
(simpers).

DISSOLVE TO:

17. IRIE BACH. EXT. NIGHT

The gang are sitting around the campfire.

ANGLE ON BOB who has a huge smile on his face.

52. BOB
Gee! You guys are the best, and
this birthday was the coolest
ever.

53. ZAZA, MONTEGO, BOB, NEL, LOUBABI, MAGADA

(laugh).

The band plays their song. LOUBABI stands up and bows gallantly to MAGADA.
MAGADA extends her wing, and the two begin to dance. PULL OUT TO WIDE SHOT
of an atmospheric scene, an idyllic evening setting with flickering campfire.
