WHAT IS MYTHOLOGY?

Mythology is a set of
myths that are part of a
religion or a culture. Most
myths try to explain the
universe, nature and tell
stories about magical
creatures or gods.
THE JAPANESE MYTHOLOGY

The Yōkais are creatures,


with animal parts, human
parts or both, that
usually live apart from
humans, However, some
decide to live close to
humans and live in peace
with them.
THE KAPPA

Kappas are little humans


with frog form and the
size of a child. They
usually live in rivers,
ponds and lagoons of
Japan. They have
membranes in feet and
hands that they use to
move and swim at high
speed through the water.
THE ONI

The oni is a giant


creature with sharp claws,
bald or with messy hair
and whit one or two horns
in her head.They wear
tiger skins and they
usually carry an iron club.
THE TENGU

The tengu is a kind of


god, he has the form of a
bird and a human, they
usually have a red face
and a very long nose,they
carry a fan made of
feathers that has the
ability to create big
winds.
THE NOPPERA

The Noppera generally


take the human form,
especially of a beautiful
woman. They are
primarily known for
scaring humans, but they
are harmless.
THE MYTHOLOGY IN THE
ACTUALITY
Today, the majority of the
Japanese population still
believe in the creatures
and gods of ancient
mythology and still
worship and show respect
for them.
