STATEMENT OF POLICY: Job Description

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
REPORTS TO : Assistant Executive Housekeeper

DIRECT SUBORDINATE : Housemen, Public Area Attendants

SCOPE
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Assistant Executive Housekeeper
and within limits of established Hotel policies, procedures and Rooms Division Manual.
Coordinates and supervises the activities of Public Area staff to ensure clean, orderly
and attractive Hotel premises, particularly function room, offices, restaurants, outlets,
restrooms and all other public areas.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Checks all activities of Housemen and Public Area Attendants engaged in maintaining
cleanliness and orderliness of lobbies, corridors, stairwells, outlets, restaurant, lockers,
offices, restrooms, hotel premises and back of the house areas.

Familiarizes himself/herself with and carries out policies and procedures established by
hotel.

Performs the following routine functions:


 Assists in the selection and termination of Housemen and Public Area
Attendants.
 Trains, retrains, directs and evaluates the work of housemen and Public Area
Attendants.
 Inspects function rooms, restaurants and outlets, lobbies, stairwells, restrooms,
elevators, lockers, back of the house areas, office, parking and other Public
Areas. Ensures that all tasks are completed on time and according to
established standards.
 Maintains a record of all maintenance equipment, assists in implementing a
preventive maintenance program with maintenance staff. Conducts periodic
inventory of all maintenance equipment and status of each.
 Reports to Coordinator and Assistant Executive Housekeeper all maintenance
deficiencies and follows up with Engineering on status and final completion.
 Attends to complaints regarding housekeeping services and takes corrective
action, offers all possible assistance to guests.
 Maintains a par stock on all supplies and controls usage safeguarding against
wastage.

Uses checklists in conducting regular thorough inspection of all Public Areas i.e. outlets,
function rooms, corridors, lobbies, comfort rooms, lockers, stairwells, parking and other
back of the house areas. Submits same to Assistant Housekeeper for proper action if
needed.
 Maintains a logbook to record assignments as well as special cleaning
requirements that should be brought to the attention of the Assistant Executive
Housekeeper.
Conducts daily briefing with housemen and Public Area Attendants for instructions and
follow ups.
 Initiates and aids in effective communication within the Housekeeping and
maintenance departments.
Assumes other duties assigned by the Executive Housekeeper or Assistant Executive
Housekeeper from time to time.
