Note
Microsoft is the holder of the software (Microsoft SQL Database) contained in Energy
Manager System.
Note
Energy Manager does not support access of third-party applications to the database included.
Access is only possible by way of the Energy Manager application. The database must be
licensed separately if you need to access it by a third-party application. For more information
and answers to any questions, contact the Energy Manager Hotline.
Note
Use a permission concept to avoid unauthorized access to the source directories of the
acquisition (ftp, directory interface).
WARNING
Security note
The software may be used only for the applications described in the catalog or the technical
description, and only in combination with the software products, components and devices
of other manufacturers where recommended or permitted by Siemens. Before you run any
sample programs included with your product package, or user programs, make sure that
harm to the health of human beings or damage to machinery is safely excluded during plant
operation.
Note
Information on the Windows operating system
Make sure that all current patches and security updates from Microsoft are installed on your
operating system.
For more information, refer to the FAQs in the SIMATIC Customer Online Support
(https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/18752994).
Note
In the Energy Manager, time zone information is transmitted via the operating system.
Therefore, always keep this up-to-date.
When you update the operating system, you also need to restart the Energy Manager system
components (e.g. before removing or introducing standard/daylight-saving time switchovers
in a country).
Note
The Energy Manager application server is not supported by Windows 7 or Windows Server
2008.
Note
Installation of the Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS) is necessary for the usage of
Energy Manager Web as well as for the connection (pairing) of the acquisition component
with the Energy Manager Server.
Note
The Microsoft Internet Information Service is automatically installed with the installation
of SIMATIC Energy Manager. Which settings are activated can be found in the section "IIS
settings" in the appendix of the installation manual. You can find out how to set up the IIS
settings manually in the section "Setting up Energy Manager Web on Windows Server" in
the appendix of the installation manual.
Note
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 must be installed for the Windows Server 2012 R2 and
Windows 10 operating systems.
Note
Microsoft SQL Server 2017
A license is necessary to use the Microsoft SQL Server database. This license is readily
available in a licensed and proper installation of Energy Manager.
Use the licensed SQL Server installed with Energy Manager only in connection with Energy
Manager.
Its use for other purposes requires an additional license. These include, e.g.:
• Use for internal databases
• Use in third-party applications
• Use of SQL access mechanisms that are not provided by Energy Manager

Note
It is important at the installation of individual components that all the servers and clients are
time-synchronized.
Note
Note on SIMATIC Energy Manager Basic
SIMATIC Energy Manager Basic is a single-user system. Install all software components on the
same computer.
Additional services are set up that are usually available to several users, e.g.:
• Acquisition of data
• Automatic calculation of evaluation data and their visualization in Microsoft Excel
An Energy Manager Portal installation is automatically carried out together with the
installation of the Energy Manager server and / or an acquisition component. An Energy
Manager PRO Client requires an accessible Energy Manager Portal to work. The Energy
Manager Portal should usually be installed once and at a central location.
The Setup is multilingual. Currently supported languages are German and English.
Installation
Start installation from one of the included DVDs by means of the following files:
• SIMATIC Energy Manager DVD: Setup.exe
Use the Setup.exe to perform the following actions:
– New installation of Energy Manager, in which a new installation is carried out with a
Microsoft SQL database.
– Installing a test version of Energy Manager.
– Carry out an Energy Manager upgrade.
– Installation of Energy Manager components, whereby individual components (Server,
Client, Web, Acquisition) can be installed.
• SIMATIC Energy Manager DVD: Setup.exe

• Package-Setup
Use the package setup to install the required packages and corresponding components.
• Custom installation
You may install selected Energy Manager components of a package with a custom
installation.
Use the custom installation if you are going to install the Energy Manager components on
different PCs. You can, for example, install the "Portal Service" of the "Energy Manager
Server" package on a separate PC in a network to outsource the computing resources of
this PC.
Note
Using a custom installation
Use the custom installation if you are familiar with the Energy Manager architecture.
Note
