SIMATIC Energy Manager V7.4 - Installation

Installation Manual, 01/2023, A5E38952758-AJ 3
Introduction 1
1.1 Security information
Siemens provides products and solutions with industrial security functions that support the
secure operation of plants, systems, machines and networks.
In order to protect plants, systems, machines and networks against cyber threats, it is
necessary to implement – and continuously maintain – a holistic, state-of-the-art industrial
security concept. Siemens’ products and solutions constitute one element of such a concept.
Customers are responsible for preventing unauthorized access to their plants, systems,
machines and networks. Such systems, machines and components should only be connected
to an enterprise network or the internet if and to the extent such a connection is necessary
and only when appropriate security measures (e.g. firewalls and/or network segmentation)
are in place.
For additional information on industrial security measures that may be implemented, please
visit (http://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity).
Siemens' products and solutions undergo continuous development to make them more
secure. Siemens strongly recommends that product updates are applied as soon as they are
available and that the latest product versions are used. Use of product versions that are no
longer supported, and failure to apply the latest updates may increase customers' exposure to
cyber threats.
To stay informed about product updates, subscribe to the Siemens Industrial Security RSS
Feed visit (http://support.automation.siemens.com).

1.2 Note on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Siemens adheres to the principles of data protection, in particular the principle of data
minimization (privacy by design). For this product, SIMATIC Energy Manager, this means: The
product processes/stores the following personal data:
User name, first name and surname, e-mail address, department, address, country, phone
number and user role. In addition, relevant changes to the configuration, such as data points,
MEVAs/KPIs, reports or changes to measured values are logged together with time stamps
and user information.
The above data is required for login, internal user administration (the authorized user can see
the role and status of other users) and audit trail.
The storage of data is appropriate and limited to what is necessary to identify the authorized
operators and to meet basic audit trail requirements.
The above data will not be stored anonymously or pseudonymized, as the purpose
(identification of the operating personnel) cannot be achieved otherwise. The data will be
used only within the product and will not be automatically passed on to third parties or
unauthorized persons.
Our product does not provide for automatic deletion of the above data.
Regarding cookies, please refer to the Siemens cookie guidelines

Introduction
1.3 Software license agreement

1.3 Software license agreement

The granting of licenses for automation and drive engineering software to the licensee is
subject to written mutual agreements. Siemens grants the licensee rights of use for the
software specified in the software product certificate. The type of software licensing is
defined in the order confirmation.

Note
Microsoft is the holder of the software (Microsoft SQL Database) contained in Energy
Manager System.

Note
Energy Manager does not support access of third-party applications to the database included.
Access is only possible by way of the Energy Manager application. The database must be
licensed separately if you need to access it by a third-party application. For more information
and answers to any questions, contact the Energy Manager Hotline.

Note
Use a permission concept to avoid unauthorized access to the source directories of the
acquisition (ftp, directory interface).

1.4 Use as intended

WARNING
Security note
The software may be used only for the applications described in the catalog or the technical
description, and only in combination with the software products, components and devices
of other manufacturers where recommended or permitted by Siemens. Before you run any
sample programs included with your product package, or user programs, make sure that
harm to the health of human beings or damage to machinery is safely excluded during plant
operation.

Installing Energy Manager 3
3.1 Basic information on installing Energy Manager
With the Energy Manager PRO Client users can access the data in the Energy Manager , create
reports and calculate evaluations from their workplace computers. Energy Manager PRO Web
enables you to retrieve the data in Energy Manager via your Internet browser. Create new
analysis objects and interfaces or data points, for example, and configure already existing
objects. You can also manage the most important settings using Energy Manager PRO Web.
Energy Manager Basic provides you with a limited version of Energy Manager. In
Energy Manager Basic, access is only possible via the Web is possible with limited functions
compared to Energy Manager.
This documentation describes the installation of an Energy Manager system and the
hardware and software requirements. In addition, you can use this setup to separately install
clients, acquisition components and the Web server.

Note
It is important at the installation of individual components that all the servers and clients are
time-synchronized.

Note
Note on SIMATIC Energy Manager Basic
SIMATIC Energy Manager Basic is a single-user system. Install all software components on the
same computer.

Additional services are set up that are usually available to several users, e.g.:
• Acquisition of data
• Automatic calculation of evaluation data and their visualization in Microsoft Excel
An Energy Manager Portal installation is automatically carried out together with the
installation of the Energy Manager server and / or an acquisition component. An Energy
Manager PRO Client requires an accessible Energy Manager Portal to work. The Energy
Manager Portal should usually be installed once and at a central location.
The Setup is multilingual. Currently supported languages are German and English.
