Agriculture plays a crucial role in Mozambique, being the main source of livelihood for the

majority of the population. The country has a great diversity of climates and soils, which allows
the cultivation of a variety of crops, from cereals such as maize and rice to export crops such as
cotton and tobacco.

However, agriculture in Mozambique also faces significant challenges. Lack of access to modern
technologies, sustainable agricultural practices and adequate infrastructure limit productivity
and efficiency. In addition, climate variability, including droughts and floods, can cause
substantial crop losses.

In recent years, efforts have been made to improve agriculture in the country. Training and
rural extension programs seek to train farmers with up-to-date knowledge. In addition,
investments in irrigation, storage and transport aim to improve food security and the marketing
of agricultural products.

The promotion of sustainable agriculture and crop diversification are also important goals. The
introduction of soil conservation techniques, agroforestry and precision agriculture can help to
increase production and reduce the environmental impact.

In summary, agriculture plays a vital role in Mozambique, facing challenges and seeking
solutions to ensure food security and the country’s economic development
