About Airnb
Airbnb is a place where you can find homes to stay in while you travel. It’s like a huge
online site full of different houses, apartments, even unique places like tree houses or
luxury apartments. The people in these places offer it to travelers who need a place to
stay.
You can use Airbnb by visiting their website or app. First, you tell them where and when
you want to go. Then, you can view all the available locations in that area. Each location
has photos, detailed location information, and reviews from people who have been there. It
helps you choose where you want to live.
Once you find a spot you like, you can plan it for the days you want. You pay through the
Airbnb website, and everything is handled. Before you arrive, the receptionist (the person
on site) can provide information on how to get there and what to expect.
Staying there is like a home away from home. You can relax, cook and enjoy a place like
your own. After your stay, you can leave a review to let others know about your
experience. It’s a cool way to explore unique places and meet new people while traveling.
This study examines Airbnb, a company that has taken a strong stance on social issues,
especially shortly after President Trump bans refugees from entering the United States.
Airbnb ran a Super Bowl ad titled "We Support" criticizing the order and promising
temporary housing for 100,000 displaced individuals along with a $4 million donation to the
International Monetary Fund Board of the This analysis will follow the steps outlined in the
Prenhall Guide to how to do it Airbnb addresses this social issue It will look at what has
been done and explore the relationship between the issue and key ideas from Chapters 3
& 4, and between GCEs.
Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, banned refugees. This means
that he prevents people from certain countries from coming to the United States. The ban
was to ensure the country was safe from potential danger. Trump signed a "travel ban" in
2017. The ban prevented people from several countries, mostly Muslims, from entering the
United States and said it was designed to deter terrorists approach.
The ban has been widely criticized. People said this was unfair and contrary to the idea
that America was a welcoming place for people from all over the world. They also argued
that families trying to escape dangerous conditions in their home countries were hurt by
the ban. The courts stepped in, and after a few changes and legal battles, the ban was
eventually allowed to continue, but with some modifications. This change meant that not
everyone from those countries would be completely prevented from entering the US, but it
still made it more difficult for them to enter.
In 2021, President Joe Biden lifted the ban. He believed that people should not be allowed
to seek protection and opportunity in the United States based solely on their place of
origin. Biden believed in welcoming refugees and immigrants, saying it was part of what
made America strong. Trump’s refugee bans sparked controversy and drew attention to
the U.S.’s refugee status. and the control of migrants and asylum seekers. Some
supported it on safety grounds, while others opposed it seeing it as contrary to American
values of inclusion and compassion for those in need.
When President Trump temporarily blocked refugees from entering the United States,
Airbnb made a bold move. A massive "We Accept" campaign was launched. This
campaign wanted to help displaced people and argue that everyone should be included.
Airbnb pledged temporary housing for 100,000 displaced people and provided $4 million in
grants. Many comments were received on this fine initiative. People loved it and used their
campaign hashtag a lot during the Super Bowl. They also found 15,000 volunteers willing
to open their homes to help displaced people. This showed that Airbnb truly cares about
creating a world where everyone feels like they belong.
Airbnb launched the "We Accept" campaign in response to the border closure, aimed at criticizing
the policy and supporting displaced people. They pledged temporary housing for 100,000
displaced people and donated $4 million to the International Rescue Committee. This project was
in line with their mission to create a world where everyone can belong everywhere. It attracted
broad attention and positive feedback, demonstrating Airbnb’s commitment to social issues and
global inclusion.
Airbnb's "We Accept" initiative aimed to include and assist people who were forced to abandon
their homes. It got to a lot of people and demonstrated how much the corporation cared about
vital topics. Many people were inspired by this initiative to offer their houses to those in need. It
made others understand that they, too, could make a difference. It's all about making the world a
more inviting place for everyone and encouraging people to support one another.
Airbnb aims to make things more equitable for everyone who uses their platform. They're
modifying the rules internally to prevent unfair treatment. This serves as a reminder to people to
treat others fairly as well. This strategy aims to ensure that everyone on Airbnb feels appreciated
and welcomed. It's akin to holding everyone accountable for how they act and treat others in the
community.
Working with groups that help refugees directly helps focus on solving their problems better. It can
quickly help those who need it most by concentrating on specific issues they face.
This way of helping out supports people taking responsibility in their own countries and around
the world. It encourages everyone to get involved in helping those who had to leave their homes,
making sure they're okay.
While Airbnb's "We Accept" campaign had a global impact, the alternative courses of action—
internal policy reforms and targeted advocacy partnerships—focused on different levels (local and
national) and offered more specific and direct approaches to supporting personal and social
responsibility initiatives within and outside the Airbnb community. Each action focuses on
responsibility in its own context, whether on a larger global scale or within the context of Airbnb's
user community, advocating for fair treatment and assistance to those in need.
• Airbnb should maintain its global advocacy activities in line with its vision of inclusivity and
belonging everywhere. The "We Accept" ad exemplifies Airbnb's dedication to societal
challenges and should be continued.
• At the same time, the corporation should step up efforts to tighten internal policies, with
an emphasis on decreasing discrimination within its community. This entails revising and
implementing policies that promote fair and polite user interactions. Airbnb proves its
commitment to CSR by maintaining its global advocacy and taking concrete steps to
address internal issues. They actively interact with global societal concerns while also
accepting responsibility for creating a fair and inclusive community on their platform.
Sustainability extends beyond environmental problems to include social and ethical
considerations. Airbnb's integrated approach to sustainability supports sustainability by
maintaining a sustainable and inclusive community culture within its platform while
pushing for a more sustainable society on a global scale. This integrated strategy is
consistent with CSR principles in that it acknowledges the company's participation in social
challenges while also displaying a commitment to building an ethical and fair environment
within its community. It also correlates with sustainability goals by addressing social factors
and guaranteeing the community ecosystem's lifespan and fairness.
By simultaneously supporting worldwide activism and refining internal policies, Airbnb
offers a complete approach that addresses challenges at both the social and local levels.
This method not only fights for societal change, but it also ensures a responsible and
sustainable platform that reflects the basic values of CSR and sustainability mentioned in
chapters 3 and 4.
