1. Why do you think a successful work of advancing or opposing the establishment of vital
points or issues is factored on how materials are gathered? (10 points)
 It is because in gathering materials their will be facts and proof on it. And with the gathering of
materials the clearer and effective method will be found on it. All the documents must be
accurate. The source of every ideas should always be recorded. Both in gathering and in using
material, the credit for all quotations, expressions, and even ideas and illustrations that are
borrowed directly from a definite source must be properly given. In that way there will be no
plagiarism.

2. A proposition which resolved that “death penalty deters crimes” is being argued. If you
were in charge of the affirmative case, briefly discuss your methods in gathering
materials for the case. (20 points)
 As a beginner, my first step in resolving the case is reading books, news and old cases
file about the case that I am handling and also learning and analyzing every situation
that I have found that is related to my case. Next is I will also used note taking about
Facts that seem trivial at the moment may turn out in the end to be important; thus,
taking notes will secure the availability of ideas until such time. Facts, ideas, arguments,
illustrations, must be noted down in substance, or copied as full quotations, when they
are discovered. And then this time, I will record and collect evidences that I got from a
lot of witnesses and the publics opinion about the case.

Probing questions: How and where do you plan to gather the materials? What materials do you
need to gather to establish your points?
 I will be gathering evidences in the library of laws, in the office of the government officials and
also to the news. I will ask permission to approved my request for the gathering of materials, I
will make things legal first before going through the investigation. I need to gather recording
evidence, agreed evidence and witnesses during the implementation of the law of Death
Penalty.
