Experiment 06

PRODUCTION OF HEAT PUMP PERFORMANCE CURVES OVER A

RANGE OF EVAPORATING AND CONDENSATION TEMPERATURE

OBJECTIVE
To plot the performance curves of heat pump over a range evaporating and
condensation temperature which are saturated temperature at condensing pressure.

PROCEDURE
• Perform the general startup procedure.
• Adjust the cooling water flow rate at 4 LPM.
• Allow the system to run for 15 minutes.
• Record all necessary data into experimental data.
• Repeat the experiment with reducing water flowrate.
• Repeat the similar steps with flow rate not less than 1 LPM.

CALCULATION:
Q 1 =m*Cp*∆T
Q 1 = m*Cp (T6 – T5)
Q 1 = 4×10-3/60sec ×1000 × 4180(38-32) = 1950.667 W
C.O.P1 = Q 1 /active power = 1950.667 /370 = 5.27 Ans…!
Q2 =m*Cp*∆T
Q2 = m* Cp *(T6 – T5)
Q2 = 3×10-3/60sec ×1000 × 4180(40-32) = 1672 W Ans…!
C.O.P2 = Q2 /active power = 1672 /375 = 4.45 Ans…!

Q3 =m* Cp *∆T
Q3 = m* Cp *(T6 – T5)
Q3 = 2×10-3/60sec ×1000 × 4180(42-33) = 1254 W Ans…!
C.O.P3 = Q3 /active power = 1254 /387 = 3.24 Ans…!

Q4 =m* Cp *∆T
Q4 = m* Cp *(T6 – T5)
Q4 = 1×10-3/60sec ×1000 × 4180(53-33) = 1393.33 W Ans…!
C.O.P4 = Q4 /active power = 1393.33 /470 = 2.96

C.O.P4 = 2.96
