1. Should smoking cigarettes be illegal?

Tobacco consumption has been popular since ancient times. Today, more than
8 billion people live on our planet, and 1.3 billion of them are smokers. Some
people argue that smoking should not be prohibited since it is not as harmful
to health as drugs. Others suggest that humanity must strive to improve and
give up addictive habits. However, banning smoking will only harm smokers
themselves and the economies of some countries
Countries such as China, India and Brazil are the three largest producers of
tobacco products. If cigarettes are banned, these countries will lose a lot of
money. Moreover, some large companies that finance major sporting events
will no longer be able to do this.
But the main problem remains the fact that if smoking is banned, the majority
of the population that is addicted will cease to be productive. It can be
assumed that many will begin to have health problems and quarrels in the
family. In this situation, people may switch to alcohol and then the Ministry of
Health will be forced to legalize cigarettes since the effect of their use is short-
term and the effect of alcohol is long-term.
In contrast, the government can significantly increase the tax on buyers and
hope to reduce the rate of smoking, however, this will not work as intended.
After all, an addicted person will experience withdrawal symptoms and will
definitely find the finances to buy cigarettes. This is why the problem of
smoking has become so complex today and it is better not to ban cigarettes
Smoking is an acute problem in society that causes irreparable harm to human
health. The burden of smoking will lead to detrimental consequences not only
for individual producers and countries, but also for ordinary people.
