I'm Thinking of Ending Things

On watching I’m Thinking of Ending Things, I was very embraced by how the movie's

characters play their roles so well. Jake, one of the movie's characters, is demonstrated to be

suffering from severe mental illness. Logically, his mental illness results from a personal

disorder that seems to be Schizophrenia. Through this movie, I learned the real effects of

experiencing mental problems. It is because Jake's mind engages in doing crazy things which are

unimaginable with several dark thoughts he lives with. I later realized that he had locked up the

learning institution from inside when he attempted to commit suicide due to his mental illness.

The characters portray signs of mental illness, as in the case of Jessie, who has thoughts of

breaking up with Jake while on their way to meeting his parents. It is so unimaginable the acts of

Jessie on her way to meet her boyfriend's parents; indeed, it is an act that truly portrays the name

of the movie.

The movie depicts various signs of mental illness through its skillful characters. For

instance, it reflects the issue of mental illness when an old, depressed Janitor struggles with

suicidal thoughts. In my opinion, this movie was well articulated, with several instances of

personal disorders ranging from Jake's views of death, concepts of aging, and passage of time

being demonstrated throughout the movie. The movie has vital elements for tackling mental

health since it captures the struggles and hazards of the human mind. I learned that the movie is

full of regrets and depression and conveys the fear of attachment with somebody. Analyzing the

name of the movie 'I'm Thinking of Ending' demonstrates a break-up as portrayed in the film.

Also, the movie entails numerous thoughts that are most likely to induce anxiety perfectly

captured while conversing the issue of mental illness’s effects on the family members.

I found the movie to challenge the chaos within the mind and spirits of humanity, various

personalities, and the controversial thoughts between self and mind. It leaves the audience in a

state of confusion and yet sympathetic since it is a clear representation of an individual’s not

secure or stable in their thoughts. I'm Thinking of Ending's movie is a good demonstration of the

mental conditions and the corresponding signs and symptoms that portray those people living

with mental illness. Furthermore, the movie holds heavy psychological weight, demonstrated in

the car while heading to the remote farmhouse. I was very embraced by the characters when they

introduced spaces for fear and traumas as they fell deeply into thoughts while heading to the

farm. It resulted in the widening gap between the self we want and self-projected onto in the

world of thoughts. Lastly, the recurrent grotesque image of a pig displayed severally throughout

the movie is a sign of mental health disorders. It is because it depicts a Janitor's traumatic

experience that occurred in his childhood, which keeps deteriorating his mental state.

There is free interaction with people having mental illnesses in this movie. It is evidenced

when Jessie falls in love with Jake regardless of his mental disorder. Additionally, Jake’s parents

still show love and take good care of their son despite battling mental health issues. Though the

movie is not very scary, it can easily evoke feelings of experiential dread that comprises very

dark and horrifying thoughts. In watching I'm Thinking of Ending things, I learned that the

movie is less a horror movie that focuses on the meditation of an entire bunch of mentally

challenged individuals. Some of the primary diagnosed symptoms of Schizophrenia are social

withdrawal, delusions, and thoughts disorder. The symptoms of Schizophrenia are portrayed by

Jake, who was linked to creepy elements such as regrets, isolation, loneliness, and not forgetting

aging, which are human attributes of personal disorders. In addition, other schizophrenia aspects

are portrayed in the movie by Juke involves several instances in the movie was observed to be

very sad, nervousness, and crushing misery. Therefore, leading to conclusion that he suffered

from schizophrenia mental health issues as revealed in the movie.
