3rd Quarter, WEEK 1

I. Content Standard: Force that can change the shape, size or movement of objects.

MELC:
Onjective: At the end of a 50 minute lesson the grade 4 pupils will be able to:
Explain the effect of force on the shape of an object (S4FE-IIIa-1)

I. A. Materials: cut out pictures , paper tape, and permanent marker ,sponge, bar soap, modelling clay, foil
paper, tanzan, rolling pin, spoon and fork
 References: Teacher’s Guide in Science 4 pages 215-216

A. Engagement:
1. Do what it says. Pupils’ do so
Showing action words in a box and let them
demonstrate the word with the materials
given.
2. Ask the pupil to move a chair. Ask them the
following question.
a. Will the chair move if you push it? How about
if you pull it?
b. Why do you think your chair move when you
push or pull it?
c. Based on this activity, how will you describe
force?

B. Exploration
Group Activity:
Divide the class into two groups
Activity No.1 “What are the effects of force on
the shape of an object?”
What to do
1. Observe each of the sold materials given in
each column A.
2. Change the shape of the material found in
Column A by applying force on it.
3. Fill out Column B what you did to change
the shape of the materials.
4. Fill out Column C with changes that took
place after you have applied force on the
materials.

5. Answer the guide question.


6. Post your output on the board.

C. Explanation:
Let each group report the activities they have
done.
D. Extension/ Elaboration
Show video clips on the different/ kind
sources of water.

Generalization:
Explain the effect of force on the shape of an
object.
-The shape of an object changes when force is
applied on it. Pushing, pulling, pounding,
compressing, bending ,twisting, tearing, stretching,
or squeezing are some ways of changing the shape
of an object.
