The digital divide refers to the gap between demographics and regions that have

access to modern information and communications technology (ICT) and those that do
not. It creates a division and inequality around access to information and
resources. At a high level, the digital divide is the gap between those with
Internet access and those without it. However, it is a multifaceted issue that goes
beyond just Internet access. The digital divide can also encompass disparities in
access to devices, digital skills, and digital literacy. Efforts are being made to
bridge the digital divide and ensure that everyone has equal opportunities to
access and utilize digital technology.
