The source of specimens for laboratory diagnosis of


Monkeypox infections is skin lesions. Specimens
should be collected by smallpox immune staff (if
applicable).

Home isolation Admission

If a suspected case is clinically stable, Admit to Negative Pressure


home isolation may be considered, based isolation room ***

* The patient must be directed immediately to, isolation room /single room with the use of a portable
HEPA filter the attending healthcare worker should complete the patient registration in the ER registration
desk.

** All suspected cases must be tested and isolated in the healthcare facility.

*** Adhere to the transportation precautions and routes advised by the infection control department during
transporting the patient.

*** Make Sure of covering any of the patient’s exposed skin lesions with a sheet or gown.
