C. If the equipment elevation lower than flare header, PSV shall be
located near pipe rack and develop operating platform (not located
directly under AFC, and gather together with adjacent PSV, if
possible).

D. If the equipment elevation is higher than flare header, PSV shall

locate near equipment to let inlet line shorter and to provide
operating platform above equipment.

E. Vent/Relief device discharge piping shall have no pockets, and

discharging to atmosphere through discharge piping shall have the
pipe extended at least 3000 mm above the tallest platform within a
7,600 mm radius of the point of discharge, unless otherwise
approved by the owner.

F. The valve of relief devices inlet pipeline shall have a minimum of

piping between the protected line or equipment.

G. Vent shall be provided for all manholes where flammable vapors

may be present. The vent line shall be not smaller than 2". Vent shall
be routed to a safe location. It shall be terminated as follows: (refer
D7ES-801-E para. 3.3.10).

a. At least 2.5 meters above any adjacent service platform within

a radius of 3 meters.

Note:

1. About the elevation of PSV, it should consist with 1500mm from

grade for PSV inlet line size smaller or equal 4”, 1800mm from grade
for PSV inlet line size from 6” to 10”. If PSV inlet line size larger than
10”, it should keep any valve accessible.

2. Minimum BOP. elevation 300mm from grade is for by-pass line.

3. Outlet line reducer should be concentric, and it is no need to provide

vent if pneumatic test will be done.

4. Locate pressure relief vent/drain at large pipe size portion of inlet

line (not located after reducer), and the outlet of vent/drain should
be downward.

5. While those PSV gather together at the platform, they should be

arranged at the edge of platform (do not under AFC), and the
minimum distance between PSV piping & handrail is 300mm (If line
size is bigger, it may be enlarged to 400,500….).

6. If using monkey ladder to access this platform, it should be side-

step and keep minimum 450mm away from any obstruction at
platform.

7. Minimum access way should be kept 750mm for operation.

8. Clearance between valves’ handwheels should keep 100mm at

least.

10.5.3 About the tail pipe of PSV exhaust to ATM and thermo-relief valve (used
for cooling water) exhaust to grade, the following design rule shall be
followed.

A. PSV to ATM: Tail pipe shall be toward top and extended to safety
elevation, and then drill a 9 mm diameter weep hole at low point. It
is not necessary to provide goose neck and cut oblique angle at the
tail pipe.

B. Thermo-relief valve to grade: Tail pipe shall be toward bottom and

keep 100mm gap with ground or structure floor, and it is not
necessary to extend tail pipe to ground when the exchanger located
above structure.

10.6 Control Valve

10.6.1 Control valve flanges shall be in accordance with piping class, and the
flange rating not a minimum of Class 300 #.

10.6.2 In general, control valves shall be located at grade, floor or platform, and
accessible. Lifting shall be done with mobile device. If not accessible or
the control valve is located between two floors, a fixed device shall be
installed.

10.6.4 If control valve set is located around foundation of column/equipment, the
enough space shall be kept for installation and maintenance. It is better
to set CV actuator out of column. If impossible, shall keep minimum
300mm clearance as illustration below:

Refer to the common piping request of control valve for consistency.

Note:
1. The elevation of control set, shall keep BOP EL. +500mm from grade. If line
with insulation, shall keep BOP EL.+600mm from grade. (For special case such
as locating spring support under control set, may raise up to BOP
EL.700 ,800…)

2. Drain position should follow P&ID’s sequence. If P&ID is not specified, the drain
should be located the upstream of control valve (reducer). For steam line, it is
recommended to provide both side of control valve with drain, and the drip leg
will be provided at the upstream only).

3. For steam service line, the upstream block valve shall be located at horizontal
position to assure drip leg at low point.

4. If control valve regulator is too high and interferes with by-pass line, by-pass
line may be routed as hidden line shown on illustration. But, it should keep each

valve accessible (Max. 1800 from grade)

5. Control valve without by-pass, likely as “S” routing as illustration, it should be

careful to choose top flat or bottom flat reducer to eliminate pocket. (not only
utilized at control valve line, but it should be careful to choose TF or BF reducer
to eliminate pocket).

11.0 Tubing

11.1 Tubing layout shall consider on the wall to easy support and keep more space.

11.2 VCR is an effective connecting of leakage prevention, assemblies as below. VCR
