This study aimed to determine the effect of using animation videos as a teaching medium on 10th grade students' ability to write descriptive texts. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test. 60 students were tested before and after watching animation video lessons. Analysis of the pre-test and post-test scores found that the average post-test score was significantly higher than the pre-test average. Statistical analysis confirmed that there was a significant effect of using animation videos on students' descriptive writing outcomes.

The purpose of this study was to determine the significant effect of
animated video media on learning to write descriptive text in class X SMK Muhammadiyah 5 Kisaran in the 2022/2023 academic year. The population of this study was grade X students. The method used in this study was a quasi- experimental method with a research design of "One Group Pre test - Post test Design". This research provides pre-test, treatment and post-test. The samples in this study were X AK and X AP as groups before and after treatment. The sample in this experiment consisted of 60 students. Based on the results of data analysis, the lowest scores in the pretest in the experimental class before treatment were 40 and 70 and the highest scores in the post test in the experimental class after treatment were 55 and 90 so that the average score in the experimental class before treatment in the pre test was 40.50 . Meanwhile, the average value of the experimental class after the treatment in the post test was 76.50 . The results of the t-test using the independent t-test on SPSS 20 showed a T-count analysis of 7.363 ˃ 1.672 . It is known that t-count ˃ t-table. While the significance value of the analysis is 0.129 with a sig (2-tailed) of 0.000, the significance is less than 0.05. The results of this study were that there was a significant effect on student learning outcomes in writing descriptive texts using animated video media.
