WEEK 5&6- Mental Health Disorders

4. Obsessive compulsive disorders -What are some interventions that the nurse could
implement with these clients?
5. Depression – What nursing interventions would you implement with a client? What
collaborative care would you expect to be implemented with these clients?
6. Suicide -Assessment & care
7. Vulnerable clients experiencing social isolation –consider how to encourage this
population to get active and involved

Week 7 - Allergies & Immune System Disorders

1. Compare the different types of hypersensitivity reactions


2. Identify the treatments and interventions for various reactions ie antihistamine,
epinephrine
3. What health teaching would the nurse provide for a client on antihistamines?
4. Explain the nursing care you would provide to a client experiencing anaphylaxis
5. What are the nurse's responsibilities when a blood transfusion is ordered for their
client?
6. Categorize the different types of blood transfusion reactions? What interventions
would be provided for each?
7. HIV/AIDS-manifestations, collaborative/nursing care and health teaching
8. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) -manifestations, collaborative/nursing care
and health teaching

Week 8 Hepatic disorders Hepatitis and Cirrhosis

1. Hepatitis -classification, mode of transmission, high risk groups, prevention


(immunization), diagnostic tests and treatment plan (health teaching)
2. Cirrhosis -Assessment and management of the client
a. Think about the management of ascites – (paracentesis) and volume expansion
with the use of albumin.
3. Hepatic encephalopathy -manifestation and treatment of high Ammonia levels, what food
and drugs to include and omit from the plan of care.
4. Esophageal varices- what diagnostic test should be done, think about treatment

Week 8 Renal

1. Acute kidney injury (AKI) & Chronic kidney disease (CKD) - definition, causes,
manifestations, diagnostic test, collaborative/nursing care
2. Dialysis- Peritoneal and Hemodialysis, compare and contrast the nursing care for
both.
3. Urinary tract infection (UTI) & Acute pyelonephritis -manifestations,
collaborative/nursing care

Week 8 Acute Pancreatitis

1. What is pancreatitis? manifestations, collaborative/nursing care
