SAMPLE SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 5

Content Standards

The learners demonstrate understanding of weathering and soil erosion shape the Earth’s surface and affect
living things and the environment.

Performance Standards

The learners should be able to participate in projects that reduce soil erosion in the community.

I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Describe how rocks turn into soil;
2. Identify the forces that break down rocks.
3. Explain how rocks are broken down in mechanical weathering.
MELC Code: S5FE - IVa – 1

II. SUBJECT MATTER: Weathering and Soil Erosion

Day 1 / Lesson 1 (Mechanical Weathering)

b. Science Concept: The forces of weathering and erosion are continually breaking down the earth.
Rock is worn away and soil is washed into rivers and seas. Water and wind are constantly changing the
force of the earth. Large rock formation is broken down by the wind and water in a process called
weathering.
c. Science Processes: observing, identifying, investigating, collaborating:

d. Material/s: activity cards/sheets, module materials, marking pens, cartolina, meta

cards , powerpoint presentation
e. Values Integration: Appreciate the beauty of our natural resources and to help preserve the natural
resources in the community
