Avatar: the last airbender

If you are looking for a TV show with a great plot and wonderful characters, there are

few options. But if you want that, and you also want to enjoy remarkable fights, deep

philosophical and moral discussion, and great animation, you can't do better with Avatar:

The Last Airbender. Created in 2005 by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko,

the show chronicles the adventure of Aang, a 10-year-old pacifist boy monk, who has a

duty to stop a war that began 100 years ago. With only three seasons, the show has won

a long list of awards around the world.

The main stage is a world in which humans are divided into 4 nations. Each of them has

the ability to "bend" a basic element of nature: water, earth, fire or air. There is only one

person in the world with the ability to bend the four elements: the avatar, who brings

balance to the nations. However, the ambitious Fire Nation started a war and
exterminated the entire Air Nation and half of the people of the Water Nation, in order to

expand their dominions. The last hope seems to be the young Aang, who is the sole

survivor of Air Nation and is the reincarnation of the avatar. Throughout the entire show,

Aang will have to grow up fast, put his own values aside, and become not just a warrior

against the Fire Nation, but a symbol of hope in a world that doesn't want to believe in

him, or even worse, that he hates it.

What makes Avatar: The Last Airbender so unique is the fact that, at first glance, the

show appears to be made for kids. However, from the very first episode, there are many

discussions of genocide, war survivors, displaced nations, and other topics that can be

found in current events in the real world. Another thing that strikes me is the great build

of each character. Even if some of them appear only in a few episodes, they all have

deep motivations and face their own problems. All of this helps create an atmosphere

where the tension grows more and more and captures the viewer's attention, like the
final episodes of seasons two and three. Finally, the creators were very careful with

every detail of the animation. They even hired different martial arts advisers to create

different fighting styles for each nation. The work is so careful that there are characters

that have a unique fighting style on the show.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a very entertaining show for all people who love great

stories that keep the viewer's attention from the first episode to the last. Although at first

glance it appears to be a children's show, I really recommend adults to give it a try,

because the quality of the plot, character construction, and animation is way above most

shows we normally watch.
